Oh boy, here we go again with the purist trip. ;)..........Right On!
Bob? Gonna get pics, right!!
Well? Did you buy this thing or do I need to?I'm going to talk to him this evening.
That's a pretty darn nice car...I personally would like to see it kept original. But as per my other statement in stormers Imp build thread...if a guy buys the car he can do with it as he sees fit.
I have so much respect for this car that I actually agree with you & will defer to Bob if he really wants to buy the car. If he's not REAAAAL serious though, I'll buy this car in a heartbeat.Thats right, thats why a guy like Bob has to have it.
I just talked to him. He's going to send me more pictures via dial-up so I don't know if I'll get them tonight. He has owned the car for 32 years and is thinning the herd. He said the seats are weathered and cracked and when I looked at the 1st picture again I could see that the leather will need to be replaced. There is other cracks and wear on the back of the rear of the seats. The sunroof works with manual assistance. He said it doesn't leak. I'm concerned about not finding any sunroof parts. The rear quarters were rusted out and he repaired it 30 years ago. The car was painted in 1980. Sun Fire Yellow. He said the chrome is weathered and there is a divot in the rear bumper. he said the undercarriage isn't terribly rusted. The A/C is complete but hasn't worked in 25 years. So, I'll wait on more pictures.
He says it's the original color. He bought it in 79 or 80 & it had some rust on the fenders & quarters. He personally repaired it & painted it in 80 or so & it's been kept in a barn during the winters ever since. He says that it's the original color but I don't know. Now is the car an original Sunfire yellow car...or just repainted that color. I thought that color was not available after 1969? As for sunroof parts...all sunroofs were sourced out to the same place, can't recall teh company name right now. So the mechanisms from an A/B/E/C/F/M/J/R/Y- body should be similar, if not exactly the same.
I'm buying this car, boys. If Bob really wants it, I'll sell it to him but I'm not gonna let it get away.
I'm not 100% sure what I'm gonna do with it but it aint going overseas. I'm going to get it this Saturday.

Just long enough to tell him that I'm coming this Saturday with cash & he needs to tell everyone else that it's sold. ;)So you had an extensive talk with him too
