Is the Cadillac automatic climate control more reliable and fixable than the Chrysler ones? Seems like there would be nowhere to go but up from the Chrysler systems. Beautiful car and dash cluster - the latter exudes quality.

So any updates? The car all detailed and being enjoyed?

Still haven't buffed out the paint yet, but will get to that in a couple of weeks. Been working on another project, but did work on the caddy a bit.

Two months ago the water pump started leaking out of the peep hole so I needed to replace it. The OEM water pump was aluminum and they don't appear to be available any longer. The only one I could find was an A1-Cardone which is cast iron. The OEM water pump had a single outlet. Though A1 Cardone showed having both the single and dual outlet type, when the single was ordered the double ended up being the substitute. Apparently the single outlet wp is no longer available. I did however find a cast iron single outlet at CaddyDaddy, but for $190 they could keep it. The dual outlet from Cardone was only $65 and came with a plug for the second outlet so that's the route I went with. I've kept all the old OEM parts so should I sell the car and the new owner want OEM they can have the aluminum one rebuilt.

Change of subjects - I mentioned the caddy had a new engine. Being the seller didn't have any documentation that the engine was actually replaced (as the story was) I was curious what lurked beneath the valve cover and intake manifold. Since I had to remove a bunch of stuff to get to the water pump I went ahead and fulfilled my curiosity by removing the intake and valve covers. As you can see this engine is clean as a whistle with no oil or sludge build up whatsoever. I don't have a photo of the intake removed (in another camera), but the valves and seats were still shiny clean - like new. So, based on the appearance and how the engine runs, I'm confident the story was true that this engine was replaced as told. This new engine now has about 200 miles on it!

I'll be taking the caddy to a car show tomorrow so I'll be able to take some more photos.

I can see the photo here, but when it posts only an "X" appears...?????

What a great car and an amazing story to go along with it. Nothing tops a vintage Caddy, esp a low mileage gem like this one! Love the red guts!
