A518 improvements

What i have read some whacking on transmission tunnel is needed, but the transmission chassis part may require a lot welding.
But front part is a like TF727.
If want non hammer fit overdrive , i think TH200 is only option.
Unless you go Passion 5 speed manual, what is 833 with overspeed.

Do you have a small block or big block? The A518 is small block only bell housing or did you mention using a swap bell housing is a different post.

Are you dyslexic ? Yer giving me a headache. . .

It will fit in a B and E body with some grinding of the ribs and such on the tail shaft section and a new trans cross member has to be made.

I pretty sure you mean 700R4/4L60 because a 200 does not have removable bell housing and would not last a week behind a BB.

A 200 can be made to live behind a BB just like a 904 can. All it take is $$$.

There is an Ultrabell for sale on Moparts for $375.

The seller says it's never been used but the SFI sticker is expired. The sticker only matters if you race.

Bad thing with dyslexic is, it get worse on kids. My son has rly bad dyslexic. But **** happens, but i can learn him build C-bodys... :) :) :)

Bear in mind that an A-518 is physically larger than a 727 and you may find that your floor / transmission tunnel will have to be enlarged to make it fit.

I'm not 100% sure but In my '74 Fury looks like there's enough clearance in the floor pan to have the A518 installed without modifying my tranny tunnel like in an A Body, anyway an A518 is only 3" - 4" longer than a 727

I am very interested to see how this shakes out. If you have a small block it will be easier, of course, but this is a conversion I'd consider doing down the road if the results can justify it. Admittedly, it's WAY down on the list of priorities, but I do a lot of highway driving with my NY. I will be eyeballing the effort if you take the plunge.

Does somebody knows what is the stall speed of the factory TF727 torque converter? I want to do an stall speed test to see if maybe the converter is slipping but I'm not sure if the stall speed is 2000 RPM or 2500 RPM

Is there any risk on broken something while doing this test?

Just did the stall speed test and the converter is flashing at 2000 RPM so maybe the converter is ok and the problem is the TF727
