Ads are effectively irritating

Apple is always updating their iOS.
I would be the first to admit that I can do a lot better.

Whatever the reason, why shun dealing with the issue and/or acknowledging that it’s a problem?

Absolutely!
No problem.
I don’t run the show and will work with it as is.
Ignoring these kind of things is prevalent in many sites. It appears to be the norm.

Being irritated and bitching then? Maybe you should have worded your question differently.....Sounds to me like it's something that's different with your phone. Did it get updated recently? That can sometimes change things for the worse.

So....what part of what I said in post #59 did you disagree with? Are y'all both using the same phone? Joey says he didn't change anything here and then the OP says Joey is "washing his hands" and well, imo, if the OP is so bent out of shape that he believes the site owner is lying, why does he continue to stay on the site??

Not visiting **** sites as you suggest though it appears you would know how that may or may not effect a device.

I reported a change. I am making do with the situation as it stands. Joey made a suggestion and I tried that with no improvement.
I’m accepting it as I have done what I can. I enjoy the site, don’t wish to be a gold member, tried what was suggested and am moving forward.

The site uses scripts provided by the ad partners. A little while ago I had a problem with this site and another (a mapping site), the problems were almost identical and showed up at the same time. It impacted both FCBO and FABO in that the pages would take a minute plus to load (this is on a PC). And overnight both started working just fine.

The site owner may not have made the change, it could have been the ad company.

I stand by my previous comment.

He claims to have someone on ignore, myself included, but if someone quotes your post he will still respond to your post.

He's had a school girl crush on me since I've been here, following me all over the forum with over 70% of the reply's to my posts from him, then he managed to get himself sent to the FCBO corner for a bit for something unrelated to me and when they let him out of the corner he claimed he put me on ignore but will still respond to my post if someone quotes me.

Sorry, got to post again. The annoying popup ads are happening of multiple sites I go to besides FCBO. I'm sure it's the all powerful OZ watching over us! All I can say that for whatever reason, becoming a good member here got rid of the annoying popup ads on this site. And at a measley 11¢ per day, I think that's a good thing! My guess is it puts us (gold members) in a different corner of the site.

Pretty sure one of the selling points of a gold membership is no ads...it's not a bad thing to spend money on - goes to keeping the site up, and you get no ads so a win-win really, especially if the information here has helped with your own car (and no doubt it has for many).

No, no communication. I don't come crying to members everytime my costs go up, which they do routinely. Just to give you an idea, the last time I bought servers I paid over $20k for them. The next time I buy servers they will likely cost upwards of $30k (if not more with tariffs).

In fact, over the 20 years I have run FABO and FBBO, I have increased the cost of a gold membership twice, in 20 years. I don't believe I have ever raised the price of gold membership here.

You're still running your own hardware and housing it too? I thought everyone had moved their hosting to the cloud (i.e., a remote server). All businesses that I've worked with as a programmer/consultant in the last ten years have done so.
