after lots of searching found this 73 imperial

for about the last 5 years I have been in love with the big ol fuselage Chryslers ultimately hoping one day I would stumble across a 72-73 triple black unicorn imperial.
Well realistically that just isn't going to happen so when this guy popped up I jumped on it.
although the car looks as though it has been taken care of, there is some rot that needs to be fixed mainly rear doors 1/4 work and some small patches on the floors from plugged vents. the vinyl roof is shot and a bit of rust around the rear window also.
Its a bit rougher then I was hoping for as I just wanted a driver but since these things are so hard to find and the demo derby guys are scooping them all up I wasn't going to let them get it.
even though it is a 73 it has a steel crank 440 in it

They are and these demo guys are getting desperate. In Manitoba we have the steel rolling mills so old steel is hard to find. I have seen these guys take minty 1 owner estate cars and enter them into a derby! they are sneaky and convince the owner that loved and cared for the car that they want to restore and enjoy the car and drive away with it for a song, only to see a week later the parting out ad on a local online for sale page.

I was thinking that many model years of Imperials were outlawed on the demolition derby circuits? Too much mass that had lots of distance between the front of the car and the radiator and quarter panels that were a long way from the end of the car. Many GM cars didn't have that much strength, back then.

They let you run them in "unlimited" classes, which is basically other Imperials and cars with added reinforcement.

I hate that I know this.
