AM radio reception - are they about the same over the years?

There are a lot of 50k legacy stations, (WJR being one) CKLW and KOA (Denver)? I think the blaster Mexican stations are 100k.

WJR, KSAL, KFAB, WBBM, ETC.

To my knowledge, all of the 50kw and clear channels still exist. They are centered around certain frequencies and sited in major metros.

One component I don’t think anyone has touched on is the amount of increased static and general interference affecting today’s AM signals that didn’t exist decades ago. 5kw stations could be heard further away due to less interference from other sources and stations.

The FCC doesn't do jack anymore, except sell spectrum to cell phone companies and bless monopolies.

When were the first all transistor radios get used in MoPars? 196x??
Were the tube radios just prior to that 12v or 6v ?

Ahhh, monopolies!!! When my phone bill was 8 bucks a month! The good old days! lol...

1955 (ish) as an Imperial option, but it was super expensive and dropped after a year. Then I think maybe '65?

Probably always 6V tubes, that's more/less the standard outside the auto radio world.

I listen to SXM in my modern vehicles and my IPOD in the NYB if I listen to anything at all.

IIRC, the ground on the old speakers is the metal frame of the speaker. I believe my NYB only had a power wire to the speaker.

The earlier radios had un-grounded factory speakers. A dk grn and another color of wire going to each speaker. The rear speakers in my '80 Newport were internally-grounded speakers. To us dual-wire speakers, just run a jumper wire from one of the terminal lugs (the SAME width of terminal, to maintain "phasing") to a chassis ground.
