The only thing I needed to hide from her was the receipts from working on the cars.
A very wise man... I usually just throw all project receipts into a file (or box if it's a big project) and never look back if I can help it... I know there are people that find ways to make their hobbies profitable, and I hate them for it...

BTW... 12-13 years ago, preparing for shoulder surgery, I paid off all of my tool accounts including a line of credit with Snap On... it all came close to 5K... that was the only time the wife was aware of my financial investment in anything she didn't directly deal with. Couple years later I made my career change and put the tools into storage (we lived in a condo at the time), she was concerned that storage was expensive for 5k worth of tools....
