are these a dealer item??

The entire thing is green... and translucent where the weak hose took the mud off. PITA carrying it out, very slippery.

I have a set of clear one piece mats in my wagon that came with the car when I bought it. they were stained so I soaked them in the bathtub with bleach and most of the stains came out except where someone must have left a trouble light on the floor and burned one.( did that myself on another car.

I believe ACC gets their carpet and floormats from 1Aauto. I think ACC is just a middle man.

It's the reverse. ACC has been doing carpets since the middle 1980s or earlier 1980s. In the repro areas, starting in Corvettes and progressing to others. One of the first carpet vendors I know of that did true, OEM-style molded carpet, rather than "cut and trimmed slices" the other vendors did back then. ACC has been known to supply YearONE, at the Mopar Nats, which I've seen myself.

From what I've seen, 1AAuto is a much more recent "reseller" entity. A product of the Internet and YouTube-era?

1A Auto had a meteoric rise because they jumped into the online sales/drop ship concept early on. RockAuto came out of nowhere and ate their lunch. I'd love to know where the money came from to bankroll RA.

I wonder how long until Advance makes a move to buy them out... those guys are buying/killing the aftermarket parts industry. I bet they're eligible for Sherman Anti-trust actions already.

I don't have the resources to look up specific info since I retired, but from what I see, RA was started in 1999 and has between 50 and 100 people working there. I'll bet it's closer to 50 than 100.

From what it looks to me, the business model is amazing. What they've done is come up with a killer software/internet package that monitors inventory at a few different large warehouses around the country. They have no inventory themselves so they are doing exactly what you want to do to be successful.... Using other people's money (inventory) and they just manage it.

The warehouses just drop ship to where it needs to go. All RA has to do is collect the money at that point. The biggest investment has to have been the software to manage it. If they are smart, the software guys are partners so they will want to stick around. "Brick and mortar" is probably just some offices and maybe a shipping area for returns.

Other sellers have tried this, but RA has mastered the internet.

1AAuto also has s multitude of DIY videos on YouTube, too. Of course, in addition to helping you determine how to do something they also want you to buy the parts from them.

One of the first things after I found RA was to use their extensive catalog base for research, especially considering that it went so far back. That was about 20 years ago (that long?? yikes). I still used it for research to then determine what I might procure from the local auto supply or otherwise. No real need to "haunt" the auto supplies to see who had what, anymore. Especially with the auto supply chains now having their own websites, in addition to the many parts manufacturer websites (which can be kind of clunky to navigate).

Are these auto parts vendors matching the Amazon business model?

Thanks for that close-up of the logo. I never did get that close-up to it, back then. Just figured it was some sort of modernistic version of "an atom" they'd devised for themselves. I guess that's what they really did, with the "S R" being the outer orbits. Pretty neat, when enlarged!

already on them, they are a gift for a friends car.
Yes... apparently MY gift for the friends car...

@BeatersRus pulled a vanishing act as soon as I shipped it.

Not really a loss I couldn't afford, but I do feel bad I hadn't given it to @live4theking ... it would have saved me shipping and put it in the hands of someone I like...

No need for the posse to form :mob::mob::mob:, but I do hope @BeatersRus has the sense to change user name if he returns...:elmer:

I googled his name and found that he was quite active on FBBO also.

The last day he was on there happens to be the last day he was on here... July 29th. Something may have happened.

Thanks Big_John... I feel no need to track him down. I hope nothing bad has happened.

At the same time, I have no interest in hearing any excuses. Situation resolved as a loss in my mind. I said my piece, I'm done with it... but if he resurfaces, I would mention it again to protect the membership if he chose to engage under the same user name.

Edit: I left a negative feedback on his profile... I'm completely done with this matter. Once more I hope he's OK. I also don't need to address this again.
