Looks like The Dutchman was determined. Had I seen the $2k BIN first, it would be coming to Florida instead of The New Jersey Port Authority.

Might be worth while to send a note to the seller and ask him to supply your contact info to the buyer. Faced with overseas shipping costs, he may be receptive to making a quick hundered or two.

Somethings screwy... Unless they've changed things or Ebay Motors has different rules, you are not supposed to be able to add a "Buy it now" to an auction that has received bids.

If it were me, I'd contact Ebay and ask that question.

I think you can if the reserve hasn't been met.
Regardless, ebay let him. Saw it with my own eyes.
I got home and was greeted with two messages from ebay.
First: "Reserved has been lowered", and
The second one: " A Buy It Now has been added"
That's when I went to the listing to hit the BIN button and....

Been out of town for a few days...and just read through this thread. Sorry you didn't get your dream car Stan. I too think it a bit odd that the seller added the BIN option, instead of letting it run to the end.

Ok, the auction is over and the whole story can be told.
I was first, last, and high bidder until early this afternoon.
I commuticated with the seller and he was being a stand-up guy.
He even gave me a screen grab off his computer to show me I was going head to head with a guy from The Netherlands and not being shilled. How many sellers would do that for you?
I really had no hard limit set in concrete for me on the car. I rechecked the listing this evening and saw that BIN was added and immediately snapped up.

Your support was appreciated guys. Thanks.

Wait, I am puzzled. How can he be a stand up guy when you communicate with him and then he throws up a BIN without communicating to you that he would do that??? To me it sounds fishy

Fishy at best. I still haven't heard a single reason WHY he would do that.

************IF YOU ARE A ZERO FEEDBACK OR LOW FEEDBACK (under 5) DO NOT BID WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST. YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED. THE LAST FEW AUCTIONS I'VE HAD WON BY LOW FEEDBACK BIDDERS HAVE BEEN NO-PAYS. EBAY AUCTIONS COST TIME AND MONEY. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO WIRE THE FUNDS. THANK YOU**************
I feel that he's tired of the ebay bullshit and just wanted to get it over with.
But itdoesn't matter now, does it.....
I'll probably fall in love again before the day is over :D
And the fat lady doesn't sing until the crane grabs hold of the container.

Me neither ..... All I can think of is that someone made a better offer then Stan did, (if he did), and arraingements were made to add a BIN with notification. I've done that with sellers in the past.
I make a contact inquiring what the BIN price is, and if there is one, a BIN is added and the seller notified me. It is risky tough. Still a chance someone will beat you to it.
Best deal is an off ebay deal but there are risks to that also. In some cases the risk is worth it.

Deer in the headlights Stan? Next time hit the go button. And kill it, sorry for the missed shot, better luck next time. If anything comes up here in Cali just let me know an ill help if I can.
