In that case you should get a boat as an alternate moneypit for the pool.

Nasty little buggers....and 10,000,000,000 mosquitos
Yes. And here, which has been essentially neglected for four years and has a very high water table at the back of the property AND it's own kidney shaped Dengue Fever maker at the front... we likely have the entire mosquito population of Minnesota contained within one 3 acre property.Nasty little buggers.
Copperheads on Connecticut? Fun. I don't know what the skeeters were drinking last year, but every bite stung like hell, and we also have aggressive hornets. Gotta find their nest yet this year, but they won't last very long when I do. But two years ago, I had to wear 99.8% DEET bug spray just to work in the garage, with fans blowing, and bugs two inches from my face. That was the worst.Yes. That's not even mentioning the Copperhead population.
Oh yea. One accidentally met its end at the cold hand of my string trimmer.Copperheads on Connecticut? Fun. Bobcats and coyotes are in the Twin Cities metro area, with no.predators, and they are way smarter than any trapper/sniper around. Plenty of deer to eat. Bears are coming further south now too. Wolves eat the little dogs people leave outside up north. We have some Rattlers, but they like caves, and I'm not going spelunking anytime soon. I did just hear that we have Brown Recluses up here. So much for not worrying about spiders, oh wait, I don't, I'll kill any spider.Oh yea. One accidentally met its end at the cold hand of my string trimmer.
We too have insane white faced hornets, mud wasps, carpenter bees... BOBCATS.....name it!
You know, just kinda thinking but, with about 2.5 acres of cleared land including the pool all filled in... considering I already have a garage and a shop....

Yea, I guess I sorta shot that idea in the foot.Nice job selling us on the CT C-Body fairgrounds idea
Nice backyard.View attachment 190613 When the girls were young we made the decision to not put in an in ground pool rather go with a temporary above ground as long as the kids were interested. It was a good strategy since once they were past 10 years old they completely lost interest. At that point we decided to go with a more natural water feature in the back yard consisting of two small ponds connected by a stream. Water circulation is handled by a 1200 gph pump using about as much energy as a light bulb. This is what our back yard looks like now.
Working from home, huh.Minnesota...land of 10,000 natural pools....no liners...

That's just a little one... My neighbor's son does the nuisance gator thing... he has had some big boys in the bed of his toyota. They don't catch and release the bigger ones apparently.
He makes them ride in a Toyota? Are you sure that they don't kill themselves? That's just a little one... My neighbor's son does the nuisance gator thing... he has had some big boys in the bed of his toyota. They don't catch and release the bigger ones apparently.
Thanks, I did need to clean the screen... the coffee helped. He makes them ride in a Toyota? Are you sure that they don't kill themselves?
I find them fascinating, I have lived places where I could watch little one like your picture while drinking my morning coffee. Report a big one as having been fed and they will destroy it. Don't swim too much in fresh water, but even if you do they seldom bother with adults. It's not that bad. Kinda amusing actually. Anybody with half a brain knows not to walk the dog around a retention pond.
What's hysterical is that the weekly golfers newsletter always has to ask them to not feed the alligators.
