Does anyone know offhand if the 70 New Yorker had the same auto temp as the 69 300. I have a new Yorker available for parts from a friend if the parts are the same, specifically the control box in the kick panel. I haven't seen it yet to know if the temp rheostat is the same.

Both cars should have ATC I, if both are factory A/C cars. ATC II was introduced in 1971. From what I've gathered on this site, ATC I is very difficult to get operating correctly. I wish you luck, and let us know how it goes!

Thanks. I've replaced most sensors and controls and rebuilt the AC compressor and put in a new fan. My thoughts appear to be the main controller. I'll be working on it this winter. If I can't make it work, I'm gonna try and create something to bypass that controller. Probably a waste of time but a good winter project.

Also worth mentioning, I'm not personally familiar with ATC I, but have experience with ATC II. In the models available with ATC II, you could opt for manual A/C. The majority were equipped with ATC II.

I'm not sure if the models equipped with ATC I were available with manual controls, but I would imagine they were. You might find out when you go to see the car. Since it's being parted, grabbing the manual controls might be worth the effort to convert yours, if it comes to that, and if they are manual.
