A friend went to the Auto Zoo for some spark plugs for his race car. Told the guy he wanted eight Autolite #x and he got "whats it for?.
He told the guy it wont be in his computer so just get the plugs. He got the same question so he said they were for a 2000 Grand Prix. "What engine?".
He told the guy it was a 380 (sbc stroker).
"You mean 3800?.
No. 380.
"We dont have em".

At the end of the day most of the young people working in these stores are just trying to earn some money and take care of their families. Just like you did at some point of your life.....More than I can say about a lot of people that just don't want to work at all these days.

So if you get an opportunity to teach one these guys something automotive........just do it!

There's a quadrillion stories out there about auto parts stores. These are just a few of them.
Probably the saddest state of affairs of any type of retailer in the country.
And you know what? The bar is so low now that it is acceptable by the consumer, the industry, and Wall St.
AutoZone is going to implode someday under its own weight of greed. Expansion in lieu of sales. Increase asset net worth (real estate), post declining sales, declare bankruptcy, top management cash out with millions. They are a Ponzi scheme.

Advance and AutoZone are both doing this... I think when they stumble the aftermarket parts industry is going to readjust in a big way... and I doubt it will be in our favor.
