Beehive springs

Did you switch to 11/32 or5/16 stem valves, I don't think the retainers come in 3/8 and you cannot use your stock retainers. Big blocks have a large diameter spring so I would guess you would have to cut outside diameter of the guide to clear. Why would you need beehive springs except to clear rocker arms and rev to the moon just asking

I was looking at a comp cam lifters and springs. It listed as recommended components the 924 dual springs and the 26120 beehive springs. I know I would have to have machine work done on the heads for the dual springs but didn't know about the beehives. I was trying to avoid it if I could.

I would call comp and see what they say I am sure they have been asked this before.
Call during business hours to get a good tech last time I called about retainer recommendations for 911 springs they said I needed titanium retainers for single hydraulic cam springs. Make a list of questions before you call.

The Comp catalog recommends that you machine for the beehive spring also. The inside diameter of the 26120 beehive is 1.000" and the locator machined into the head is 1.000". The recommended Comp Cams aftermarket locator is .970" in diameter. You might squeeze the beehive over the stock boss and you may not. They do have a 10 degree retainer for the beehive spring that will work with the stock 3/8 valve stem, part number 795. It will require you select the correct 10 degree valve locks for the grooves in your valve stems.
