Before and after the fire.

I bought this 3 months ago and had not insured it...:BangHead:

In Virginia, I believe the state still lets you pay an uninsured vehicle fee and drive. Is it the same in Australia?
Sorry to see that. Vehicle fires suck. In Florida you can't get a tag without, at the least, personal injury protection insurance. Comp and collision are voluntary. The yearly premium isn't worth the payout for my vehicles. Its easier to go buy another.

I think he was just storing the car, thus no insurance. How many of us would keep full-coverage insurance on a 2005 Crown Vic we hadn't yet started using?

When we register our cars here compulsory third party insurance is included in the registration fee, this however, is not the same as personal insurance. Car insurance which normally covers theft, fire, accident damage to own vehicle and/or others, property damage, etc., is the responsibility of the vehicle's owner but not compulsory.
In a situation where two vehicles are in an accident and people are injured, they can claim medical expenses and if prolonged effects result they can qualify for a lump sum pay out, particularly if the person becomes permanently incapacitated.
Compulsory third party insurance does not cover vehicle repairs, if neither party in the accident has taken out personal vehicle insurance then they pay for repairs out of their own pockets.

I have no idea what the Australian junkyard scene is like, but that looks repairable. Then again, you did say you're not an electrical guy...

Who gets socked with the carbon taxes for an unpermitted release like that ;)
It's cheaper to buy another car, as for the carbon, don't tell the Greens!
Glad to see this occurred in your yard, not in the garage. Everyone is safe and that’s what matters most.
Yes, the cars are parked right next to the shed out back, so the thought of it going up was of concern
