Hi all, it has been sometime since I last posted... been busy with work, projects, and to be frank, life in general.
That being said, I'm posting this thread looking for some general information regarding restoring Irene, my 1970 Plymouth Custom Suburban station wagon. The exterior of the vehicle is flanked on both sides with wide (anodized aluminum... I' guessing) trim which starts at the front quarter panel in a rounded semi point and ends in a square, inches before the taillight bezel. I'm curious, given that there is a beveled lower section of the pieces within the trim. Would there have been an insert here? Almost like a bumper type door guard? I have only seen some photos of 1970 Fury hardtops with this similar looking trim, and it appears like from a distance that this inset in the trim is painted body color, or there is a rubber (or vinyl grain?) insert which is body color... or something similar. Any info would be much appreciated as I'm just trying to see what would've been factory as I want to preserve and would like restore what I do have as close to factory as I can. Thank you for your time.

Much appreciated,
Mac

yes there would have been a rub strip insert
Thanks for the clarity. Would this have been flat in style or textured grain? Would it have been black, or body color, or something else which would be reflected in the build sheet?
