Hello everyone I've taken a chance and bought this 67 Newport Custom on eBay. I drove a 67 Newport sedan in high school, graduated in 1980. This Custom is nice and solid, has not been exposed to road salt so the floors and trunk are good! It needs some work but I'm up for it. I'm hoping someone will read the tag for me please. Thanks

Congrats on your purchase! This car looks familiar, If I remember right it was on here for sale before. The car is KK1 Light Turquoise Poly, I love that color. Sorry but I cannot help you with your fender tag decoding, however WWW.MyMopar.com might be able to help. All I know is the color code, and that it's the lower production line Chrysler model (L)

In answer to your question, these are the results I got from the decoder I use.

CAR: Chrysler Newport 4 Door Sedan
ENGINE: 383cid 2-bbl V8
TRANSMISSION: 3-Speed Automatic
TIRES: 8.55 x 14 White Wall 2-4 Ply Steel Belt
MODEL YEAR: 1967
BUILD DATE: May 01.
AXLE: 2.76 Rear Axle Ratio
INTERIOR: Turquise Interior.
PAINT: Medium Turquoise Metallic (Dodge), Light Turquoise Metallic (Plymouth), Mist Turquoise Metallic (Chrysler), Aqua Turquoise Metallic (Imperial).
OTHER: Medium Turquoise Metallic (Dodge), Light Turquoise Metallic (Plymouth), Mist Turquoise Metallic (Chrysler), Aqua Turquoise Metallic (Imperial) Upper Door Frame Color.

MOLDINGS:

ABC OPTIONS:
A1: 26in Radiator
R3: Unknown Option
S1: Air Conditioning
X1: Tinted Glass (all)

abc OPTIONS:
g6: Driver's Outside Remote Operated Mirror
h7: Fender or Hood Mounted Turn Signal Indicators
k7: Passenger Outside Manual Mirror
m3: Unknown Option
u1: Sold Car When Built (Somebody Ordered It)
y7: Unknown Option

I'm not sure about the results for the 'K' option (Other)that I got after the paint code. If I moved it over one space in the decoder I got the same results for 'Other' except it said racing strip on the end instead of 'Upper Door Frame Color'. Since I didn't see any striping on your car I took the first result. Any chance your car was repainted?

Hey thanks! Most of the paint is original . The car does have the right outside mirror! One of the codes has to be for the am/fm fm radio.

Very nice find. Great color and I see it has dual exhaust. Drivers side seat not ripped either. You don't see that very often in a 52 year old car. Have fun with it. BTW, I also graduated in 1980. Nice to see another old guy here.

Old guy is right!! The seats were reupolstered several years ago using the proper materials. The guy I bought it from included some leftover fabric and vinyl and a trunk full of parts. Car is originally from Kentucky and I'm the 3rd owner. Going to sit in the garage for the winter, but I'm ready to drive her next spring!

Very nice and a great find! I'm just a bit biased, but 67 Newport Customs are my favorite!

Looks like a very nice car! Nothing unusual in the equipment, to me, but that's just fine. Looks like a "Basic Group" optioned car. Plus the AM/FM radio and rh outside rear view mirror.

Standard tires for the a/c Basic Group cars were 8.55x14 Goodyear Custom Power Cushion white wall bias ply tires. Non-a/c and low-option sedans had 8.25x14 similar tires.

Be sure to upgrade all of the rubber fuel lines (even the short piece at the fuel tank sender) to ethanol-rated rubber hoses.

My high school and college years were spent with a '66 Newport 4-dr Town Sedan. Same basic drivetrain as what the '67s and '68s used.

Congrats and enjoy!
