Old Man with a Hat
If yours is working there is no need to jump in the fire from the frying pan. The 727 4 clutch packs are way over built for all stock or close to stock engines. Yes the Hemi had a big drum with 5 disc in it and a big iron band (reason for 5:1 lever) in the front. This is all not needed. The 5:1 lever will work harder, or even over work a stainless flex band requiring more frequent band adjustments.
Put good clutches in it and a kickdown band for a diesel truck (circa 1998-2002), you could put a bolt in sprag but unless your doing burnouts or j-turns there is really no need, I would replace the springs and rollers in it though.
If you want a little more snap in the shifts use the Trans Go kit moper mentioned. I would not run a bigger pan except you are in South FLA so probably not the worst idea (heat is #1 killer of transmissions). I would have your converter rebuilt, it works, it has not been at the bottom of a flooded area, or left outside hole up all winter then sent is as core, and is correct for the car.
