Can anyone expain this USPS package delivery route?

I bought something on ebay, it was in Florida, being shipped to Michigan. It's apparently being shipped by USPS. Can anyone explain the route the package is taking? It got to within 14 miles of it's destination and then took a thousand mile detour.

I ordered cigars from a place 42 miles from me, after traveling 326 miles to the post office 200 yards from my house they were sent back to the distributor. Once again they traveled the 326 miles route to get to me. I don't know the return route but it took over a week for delivery.

I don't have it yet. I could have had it in 3 days had it not taken a thousand mile detour. As of last night it's still in Louisiana and they're still saying it's going to be delivered in Michigan today.

And no, it's not a package of mail-in ballots.
