Carlisle 2021

Short day due to unexpected events, and so I missed quite a few people — all the more thanks to all those who made this road trip possible. Here are a few more pics I took today.

First is a Plymouth Fury whose owner explained to @Ripinator and myself that it was a PA police car, as evidenced by the broadcast sheet. PL41T1F202716 was used in PA before being bought in Georgia and then brought back home.

Next are three more Fury models — 1969 hardtop, 1970 ‘vert and 1970 sedan.

The picture I took of @Imperialist67 ’s beautiful (great job polishing the paint!) 1967 NYer were messed up by my pinky atop the lens, so I won’t post them here. (Edit: @live4theking has a nice one in this post)

Finally, thanks to Matt (a Carlisle regular with whom @cantflip Rip and I — and others I am sure — have had many great conversations under the tent ), I got a heads up of a car in the car corral that I loved.

It is a turquoise 1972 NYB 4dr :wideyed:

@david hill went to investigate with me. The seller was initially asking $8.5k yesterday, brought it down to $6.5k today and told me he would go home with it at $5.5k. Highly optioned, including power vents (and, unfortunately, H53 AutoTemp). Super black vinyl interior, not one rip or tear (note though the incorrect blue steering wheel). @saforwardlook and @71Polara383 — the car needs paint, top (but no rust bubbles to my eyes — David did make a comment), a window (glass broken on passenger rear), almost surely a heater core, two lower quarters, and so I decided to pass. At $2.5k, it would have been hard to say no to CS43T2C164105 (fleet size limits notwithstanding).

I had a great time at Carlisle! It was great to see all of the guys at the FCBO group photo. I was impressed with 77Newyorker440! Very respectful and polite young man! It warms my heart to see the enthusiasm of this young gun and the excellent work he has done on his New Yorker. I didn't see Will or Jer. I was released from the hospital at 7 am this morning and I drove straight to Carlisle. I only stayed for a couple of hours. Hopefully next year I'll be feeling better and can stay at Carlisle Friday and Saturday. Again, it was great to see everybody!

A real diehard you are!!!

This 1970 L-code Fury iii 'vert was present last year, but I have yet to meet the owner.
I know the car well. It belonged to the previous owner of my 300 and I have a lot of "seat time", driving and riding in it. He (Bruce) sold it to the present owner when he bought my 300.

There is a 383 under the hood, although (IIRC) the original motor is long gone. The owner lives on Long Island. The car is actually very rust free and Bruce has always regretted selling it.

A couple months ago, I ran into a guy that owned it before Bruce and had owned it since he was in high school. I hadn't seen him in quite a few years. He had been given the car by his father, who owned a body shop, as a "project". The car was still fairly new, but had been wrecked. That owner (Tony) fixed it and had it for a while. I don't know the history between Bruce and Tony though. I also didn't know Tony when he had the car.

The present owner came up to me on Saturday and thought I was Bruce. There's a funny story about the conversation, but I'd rather not share it here.

The present owner added the stripes and other emblems not original to the car.

This was when Carlisle did the "burnout contest". This pic was in one of the Mopar magazines.

Bruce at the wheel with @march 's wife in the passenger seat. Note Purple Heart NY plate. Bruce was wounded in Viet Nam.

The Redeye was very comfortable driving to Carlisle and back home. Perfect weather, 75° and low humidity. I had the windows and the sunroof open! Traffic was pretty heavy and I didn't really get her up past 80 mph. I was surprised to get 17 mpg.

The car and Bruce are legendary. I have some video of the car in the burnout pits. The crowd erupted when the flag came out.

We just got home about 45 minutes ago. We hit a lot of rain, more as we headed north.

No one told me it was drive like an idiot day... Seemed like there was a lot more stupidity than usual. Did people forget how to drive during the Covid?

This was a close call, probably more than the video shows. Rt 81 just headed out of Binghamton, NY.

NWS for language.

### I waz there Friend Bob, Saw your "Go Fast Challenger but not you? Same with Big Johns Brown Drop Top, but no Big John? Same with Rips Red '66 but no Rip? And it waz dam near 11:00 before I could breach the groundz because every body and their brother waz playing the "hit me and I'll sue" game trying to get thru' gate 3 in their $10K - $25K toyz . Meanwhile, I waz being Chauffeured around all weekend in a 1960 300 White F Convertible that looks like it just came off the show room floor. We Made it to gate 3. I jumped out at the gate and went and picked up my rental scooter and started coursing and looking for Car-Budz. Scroll down on this same page Bob. I'm sitting there with Catnip and Will in the yellow shirt. (Not sure who the guy waz next to me but I kinda knew him. Never got to moon Dave either but I never found any one with a camera for the pic that I was sure wouldn't try to playing leap frog me when I had my back turned. Got reacquainted it one of the original Ramchargers that I hadn't seen since the late '70s. (used to race Dirt Bikes back in the '60s + '70s with him and a few other Car-Bike-Buds around the Jack Pine Trail in Central Michigan. Bumped into Danielle Armstrong under the same canopy with the Ramcharger's that was Hanging with the Golden Commando Group. Any body poke their head into that Canopy This weekend? Danielle's Mom and Dad Taught ah bunch of Wanna Be 1320' scooter types, Just How Fast a 4200# '62 Sport 300 can cover ground when it's been "tweaked" right. Her folks and that '62 300 Sport under the canopy got inducted into The Golden Commando Hall of Fame this weekend. Maybe we can get yeah that moon shot for yeah next year Dave. Later All and happy Trails, Jer

He was there with his silver Chrysler Crossfire convertible. I think I introduced him to a couple of the guys when he was visiting us.

Same with Big Johns Brown Drop Top,

We did most of our walking around on Saturday morning, so that's probably when you missed us. Friday was a late start and the afternoon heat kept us under the tent. We made up for that on Saturday when the weather was really nice.
