Hi guys,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a cheap or second hand carpet for my 65 newport sedan?
I’m from Ireland so postage is expensive on these sort of things,
Online I’m seeing $300 plus postage.
Any chance anyone has a second hand one or knows of anywhere to look for a cheaper alternative?
Thanks
Cian

All the molded carpet is made by ACC and resold by vendors. I like these guys, but I understand how shipping is going to be an issue. Looks like ~$250 USD Auto Carpet for Car, Truck, Van - Stock Interiors

You could do it yourself. If you can find automotive carpet by the yard, the way to do it is to apply a coat of contact cement to the carpet (just the carpet and not the floor) and place it on the floor and beat it to shape to fit with a rubber hammer. It has to be automotive carpet that has no backing to work.

forming carpet?

If you have access to a heavy duty sewing machine, you could sew the carpet too. Lot's of books on the subject and YouTube videos too.

Look for carpet tape also, if you need to do cutting/splicing, it works well.
And keep in mind that the seats, door sills, etc held hold the carpet, so if you cut/form it well, it's not going to move around.
To that end, there would be some residential carpet types that might be useful. As @Big_John said, pay attention to what the backing material is. Buy something flexible. A buddy of mine used some indoor/outdoor carpet for the headliner in a Jeep Cherokee. It's a salt-and-pepper gray carpet, and you can tell it's not headliner material, but it formed and looks *really good*!
