Considering lowering my '68 Newport. Best method?

I do like that stealthy black paint and the red pin stripe really looks good but IMHO the car would look much better with more sidewall and slightly less "rim"

I agree, he actually had it that way but went bigger. fury.jpg

Lowered looks good if it is done right. Only on certain cars too. this is my friends Fury. Im not usually a fan of the big wheel thing. But this car is just 'right'View attachment 47318

I'm sure this is a great car to cruise around in..... But my first thought when I looked at it was...... I could probably fix that car.......
Road wheels, whitewalls, get it out of the weeds and a shiny paint job........ It would go from nice to outstanding.

This is why I wouldn't lower a car:

Now granted, this is your garden variety S-beater Mirada that I snapped in traffic no more than 5-years ago after 30-years of MI salt. But with so many "tall" vehicle bumpers on the road today, I'm not looking to have my unibody ruined by some idiot kid texting from Mom's SUV. Much easier to replace/straighten a bumper than having to do that, plus a bunch of trim, decklid, etc. Bumpers were there for a reason even in 1968!

My Newport came with a sagging front end. I will be the first to admit I am hesitant to make it right. My right brain says, Fix it, but my left brain..

I like the way yours sits. Nice stance. What size tires do you have on it?

I have 2 inch lowering blocks on My 67 Fury I think It gives enough if I went lower you run into more problems 2 inch's seems good enough.....although my ex wont tell you that :/
