Daves new addition

Very nice car! I love the color. I had a 2 dr that color back in the late 80's. Great story. Look forward to more pics.

That's possible Gary. We'll see how she runs and if I can depend on it for that long of a drive. If it does that well I may dump the garage and bring everything. Id like to have them both there.
Yeah Dave get the entire fleet there...your dad's car.....THAT would be extremely cool. Nice catch indeed.

I'm late to the party Dave but ah big thumbz up to yeah Pal. Nice to know theirz more then me 'n Stan that get ah woody over ah piece ah iron. I stopped questionin' why that iz ah long time ago, lmao. Ain't them kinda road trips ah hoot? The adrenalin never stops pumpin' do it?

Maybe they were a dealer add on accessory......... The orig owner was Andre the giant.

No, this was an unknown. The seller owned it for 22 years and I just don't think he ever drove it. Notice in my one photo of the left bucket seat? It had wood blocks under it to raise it up. He was 6'2" easy and probably 245 lbs. He didn't put them there and now he won't get back to me.. Some stories on this car I would like to know. Like the 40 year old tires and the wires from 1971.... Are they original or reproductions.......

I guess I should start another album, but you could always stop by

No Jer it didn't. I have no idea how I could stay awake that long but I think you summed it up.

On the return almost to WV I remember me thinking ****, I just woke up.... I should pull over, and I did. Twice.

No dealer add on and Andre' would have driven from the back seat and eliminated the fronts, not raised it up

Congrates on the new ride Dave! Great car that I can see why it was a must have in your book! Good luck with it.

Those are NOT 1973 tires! Those designations did not exist in 1973. You will have a three or four-digit number on the sidewall near the DOT number. For example, "3403" would be the 34th week of 2003. The six-digit number you show in the picture is not the build date.

Very nice car you have there!

OK Patrick...... The information on the sites we looked at told me otherwise.. Plus the polyglass reference made me lean towards early....
Pleasy tell me what I should be looking at there then..... So I know

Congratulations Dave! That Polara certainly needed to end up to your hands.

Here's infomation about European tire codes

The letter E and number code combination positioned in a circle identify the country through which an approved tire was originally registered. E4 is the code for Netherlands. The circle is followed by two digits indicating the European Community Regulation Series under which the tire was approved such as 02 for governing passenger car tires. That is followed by four digits that represent the European Community type-approval numbers.

In other words the E4 022572 is:
E4 = The tire was approved for European markets by Netherlands
02 = Passenger car tire
2572 = European Community type-approval number

Most obviously the tires are newer than 1973

Way-ta-go Dave ! Most excellent ! Really enjoyed your trip report / unveiling writeup. I feel like I was right there with ya when you found that build sheet. Mighty fine !

The example I linked to is pretty self-explanatory. You need to find the DOT number, as pictured in the example, and go to the last four digits in that string. First two in that four-number is the week of the year (the last two digits in that set) that the tire was manufactured.

Thanks I missed the link.... Now that I think about it I guess the early 70s build seems impossible with the size being what it is.....
There is nothing on this tire that reflects a tire manufacture date from my schooling..... Which is why I presumed early.....

I will dig further but not too hard.... They're going away regardless

If the car has been garaged to where the tires are not exposed to sunshine, and brought outside occasionally, the tires are likely still drivable. But it's never a bad idea to replace them, in any case.

Your car pics are pretty nice. I'm pretty amazed at the floors on the car. That, and the color combo you have make for a sweet ragtop. Congrats!
