The deck lid lock is messed up and I can't get the key in. I am trying to open the lid from inside. Do you have to disconnect the link from the lock cylinder first or should you be able to move the link while it is still attached? If you have to disconnect, is there a source for the little clip that holds the link to the lock? It looks like it will break if I remove it. Thx.

The easiest way I found was to hook a couple of long socket extensions together and unbolt the trunk latch by reaching through the back seat opening.

Access is not really a problem. It's a convertible and the top is gone so I can easily crawl into the cavernous trunk. I'm just wondering if I should be able to work the latch without disconnecting the link rod from the lock and if there is a source for the clips.

If you can reach the latch rod, then you can probably give it a pull and see if it works. It won't hurt anything. If it doesn't work, unbolt the latch.

I don't remember what the clip looks like... But I'll bet it's the same as the door lock and you can buy those.

Spray wd40 into lock cylinder. Insert key with teeth facing upward?

Yeah, I worked it quite a bit with wd40 and teeth up. It went most of the way in once, but now only goes in about half. I'll work it a bit more before taking anything apart.

My personal preference is PB Blaster. Much better than WD-40.

But... If the tumblers are stuck, you aren't going to do much with it in the car.
