Occasionally watch this show and enjoy it. What is it about AZ prices that makes them so low. Just watched a nice 68 Charger w/383 go for 15700. That is about 1/2 of what it would go for here up north. Any theories?

Arizona prices are not that low. That show is total bullshit. The producers should be sued for claiming it to be a "Reality" show. I only watched the show once or twice but seeing what they call a "Restoration" is a joke. If you put a Maaco quality paint job over numerous old paint jobs without doing any professional bodywork there is no way you are going to get top dollar. Also during the shows I saw customers come in looking for a part that they agreed to sell at a very reasonable price. More bullshit! They don't sell anything reasonable. In the same episode they had major drama because they needed an SS 396 emblem for a Chevelle. They sent a kid into the yard and he found one just sitting inside a car that wasn't even a Chevy. How convenient! But the drama doesn't end there, they still need another one. Like there aren't 5 places in Phoenix that sell repop emblems along with a hundred on line sources. I won't even get started on the auction house they use but the junk they auction off there I guess makes Desert Valley junk look good by comparison. In case you can't tell I'm not a fan LOL.

Here's the part I always love.
"Well, Bart has been a long time good customer of ours and we love to be able to keep these old cars on the road so we were glad we could help him out and sell him that unobtanium '53 Cadillac fender trim for $5.00"

Hi. Dessert Valley? I'm calling to see if you have an unobtanium '53 Cadillac fender trim.
"Yep. $300.00."

Nothing remotely cheap about DVAP. They are VERY expensive! I agree that the "charitable" emblem giveaway $5.00 price on that trim piece was solely for show. The whole show, like EVERY SINGLE so-called "reality" show, is pure bullshit. Television is such garbage anymore. "Reality" shows sell because the producers are not paying real actors to perform; therefore, they get a show done for as cheap as possible. No actors, or acting talents, are required. And the shows that actually have actors are junk, too, with the cursing, double entendres, and other things that were simply unacceptable by polite society just five years ago. It is sickening.

I've only had one real dealing with them. Bought a tail light lense for the Monaco. They sent the wrong one at first and when notified they just said keep it and sent the correct one no questions asked. No doubt the stories are mostly made up.

My last purchase from DVAP was a total dissapointment,,I got the parts I needed for my 65 fury but it took forever,,2-3 months,,and I gave them my CC information over the phone,,,,the next thing that happened was my bank account was closed due to fraud,,someone in Pheonix was fraduently using my CC# in a couple different resturants for over $300 each time so my bank shut my account down,,,good thing they did,I haven't been to Pheonix for years and since I can't prove they did it with the responce and service I got from them I have to wonder,,the bank investagated and reimbursed my the lost funds and won't say anything about the investigation,,after I spoke to someone in the DVAP office and told them what was up you wouldn't believe how fast my missing parts arrived,,the hinges were even sand blasted and painted,,,,,

That's brutal! Guess I got lucky. They have so much nice dry steel laying around it's incredible. I wonder if they even have a reliable inventory.

The episode with the 1st gen b-cuda when they broke the rear glass then had to buy another car just for window B.S.

I saw that episode, i was wondering, who stands a bumper bar against a round pole next to a glass windscreen teetering on a narrow stand? And the cameraman was in the perfect position to see it all happen too.

It's been awhile since I've seen that episode but I think I remember seeing a slant six under the hood when they claimed it was an original 273 car.

Can't watch any of these shows, not even for the cars with the volume turned off. Another pet peeve in these shows is the calculation of profits, got the car and add costs for parts and material and end up with a healthy profit after selling it off, no costs for labor, electricity taxes hell, they don't even have gas costs or vehicle maintenance while driving through the country, etc.; hope these kinds of people don't run the budget of your country, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. :)

The son of the owner just grates on my nerves, he is definitely not photogenic or have the personality to pull off being in front of the camera.

They hyped up how rare that back window was for half the show and proceded to not gaurd it with their life = scripted reality TV.
