F$#@, these POS scab car haulers the manufacturers are using now?
Their drivers don't last a year.
And nobody cares. It will get there eventually one way or another.
In the 90's moving rental fleet around FL cities... Tropical Transport brought in the most broken down, obviously on their last legs trucks... none of the drivers could communicate in my native tongue. Threw one off my lot for using my car to jump his busted trailer... Chrysler computer controlled alternators can cost a lot to repair after you short them out. Had to get someone bilingual to explain "get the F out" and finger extended to the gate meant I didn't give a **** about his paycheck. At least the new car carriers were usually not idiots... but watch out when the used cars deliver. Some of the outfits used by the high lines are really good drivers and equipment, at least 10 years ago... but just when you think all is good... some POS rolls up because they were overbooked.
Us non union guys all get it in the pooper at some point, but IDK if any of the unions are worthwhile these days either. Met a lot of guys over the years who's jobs were moved without option for the expensive help. All a guy like me can do is keep the resume in good condition for the next time you use it. Seniority in my world relates to vacation time... not much else.
FWIW the biggest damage I encountered was rail dust causing rust spots on the paint of just about anything shipped by rail... it would come in batches... IDK why, bad wheel maybe?
