I'm just the husband of a current C-body owner... and family spokesman.
I'm primarily an F-body guy! With over half a dozen F's on hand, and three kids to pack in, we needed a bigger car. Mama said so.... you know how That story goes....

Nothing in our mostly Mopar corral is comfortable for 5 for more than a few hours from home with the whole crew, or provides much shopping opportunity when we get to our destinations. Not to mention the whole thing about how a regular SUV driver (don't look at Me) feels about being a passenger in something that sits on the ground...

Here's the radio edit version. We bought 72 Fury's 72 NYB.

And the Club Mix Version is...
I've already proven to the wife that I can make a car comparable to todays $25-28K range for $5-7K and enjoy the ride, spending the difference on fuel over many years. So on that principle, I've reasoned and cajoled my way into $15-18K to make a $35-42K family ride from the right platform. The sort of platform that can flat tow my $7K thru mountains to a distant show in style and comfort!

We attended several area events, and also distant events, then as spectators, and watched the internet for the right car to come along fitting our wish list.

Having owned a handful of C-bodies in the past I had hopes of making a 70 New Norker Wagon into a 300 Hurst-W. But with two white cars in the herd, mama wasn't buying. So that left me to shop the options list for a standout in the hues of tan/red/brown/black. Like the others excepting the green '69 D100 I put a 72 Newport front subframe under;) More on that later maybe...

We found the car that fulfill's her wishes and still offers me parts buying trunk space and towing capacity, even after family carry-on's, online, in a 72 NYB, nearly loaded, leather bucket seat car. The few options missing we didn't desire or will add later. We are not restorer's in this case. We are a family with needs, and desires to make memories for our children thru a hobby enjoyed in everyday life. All numbers matching parts removed are being properly stored so nothing of it's originality is lost forever. There will surely be some modifications made that will have the purist's upset. But it's all in the name of practical enjoyment, without rendering the vehicle beyond restoration.

I hope to find assistance here in the effort of making her car into something our family will safely enjoy for years to come.

That is surely where the LP cut will be played......

Welcome to the site from the Motor City!

Welcome to the party Rattle Trap now listen: Tell her the Hurst Long Roof'd be two tone with almost as much Sauterne Mist as white. If That doesn't work get her ah side shot picture and color it in to show her how cool that C-piller would look with that gold stripe comin' all the way from the nose and hookin' up and over the spoiler. The hard part will be finding ah white long roof with ah brown interior. BTW, The sheet metel is the same for '70, '71, and '72 so the 300 grill will bolt rite in too! Not that I've been thinkin' about it too BUT! Jer

You'll have to get used to Jer....... He's trying to justify his own (in)sanity with his quest to create 300 station wagons. Great idea though.

And welcome to the site. Sounds like you'll fit right in here.

Sounds like a cool and practical project. The kids will appreciate the memories.

Thanks for the comments.

I think (Jer) BIGBARNEY and I might think too much alike already. ;)
There were three 300 Hurst's floating around between here and Toledo til 20yrs ago. I really regret never owning one of em.

Can't believe I couldn't talk mama into a wagon. I think I'm gonna have to go down to the local yard and take the top off one and make a cap for my D100 from it so I can at least have the look....

Her NYB fits the bill nicely though. Great shape overall. Very attractive and nicely apportioned.

We've been telling commentor's @ shows that it's nice the kids have to really reach to fight with each other. The problem is that we can't reach them either now ! :)

I owned my Hurst for 17 yearz Rattle Trap. Sold it to a friend at Carlisle in '99 and still kickin' myself in the back side! I've got pix of Miss Linda with brown hair and without her bikini top on too but thoze pix did not go with the sale 'cuz I keep 'um hid good and they ain't got no drool markz on 'um neither, Jer

Welcome aboard. Sorry about your SW situation but sounds like you've got a plan and stuck to it. BTW the natives here get a bit restless unless you post pics.

Well Jer, at least you don't have to admit to being the guy who sold it to you when it reached full depreciation by 82! The 300 Hurst was pretty well acknowledged by 99. And you've still got the pix, that I have to guess must be laminated. To protect from drool....;)

Wish I had a freind like you in 99. I'd just sold my 71 Newport and was driving a Shelby Charger when the big car bug struck again. Except I skipped right over big car and went straight for Gigantic! 1962 Cadillac Eureka Landau Hearse. 23'-8" long! It proved to be more than impractical. But it didn't take long to sell.

You guys have all seen the car already. http://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopar...mulation-of-parts-for-the-Pursuit-restoration

But I can change the background. I've hammered out the front splashpan and the dent in the floorpan. I can only guess the marks on the side trim are antler scrapes. Whatever it went over was big, but it was Bigger!!! LOL! Can't do That with your new Truck and not even break a parking light!

Here she is on her second full day home. The 5th day after her Birthday. I had just put the Porsche into the trunk and was about to close the lid when I saw the guy heading back our way. I was that close... lol!
