The rear drums are on keyed rear axles and will take the appropriate puller to get them loose. Most Fords and Mopars of the 40's,50's and early 60's still had keyed axles. The end of the axle has a large jam nut with a cotter key. The cotter key is removed, then the large nut. The specialty Ford puller, which also works on Mopars has three legs which are attached to three lug studs with the lug nuts. The puller has a pressure screw in the center which applies pressure to the end of the axle while pulling outward on the drum. Usually works best to apply about 100 ft/lbs of torque to the pressure screw and then rap the pressure screw with a moderate sized hammer, repeat as necessary. Do not use any puller which attaches to the rear flange of the drum as this will warp the drum and ruin it.

Once the drum pops loose, it is then removed to access the shoes and wheel cylinder. If you are going to pull the axles to service the wheel bearings, be sure to pack them with wheel bearing grease and replace all of the seals with new ones.
