Spring Fling in Van Nuys many years ago. We all had a great visit with John Schneider listening to him tell crazy TV stories and when he left in the General Lee he hit the la cucaracha horn and did some of the smokiest figure 8 donuts I’ve ever seen right in the middle of the 4 lane outside Woodley Park. The cops clapped and cheered him on. They even stopped traffic for him. Off he went spinning his wheels into the sunset. Then a guy in a yellow 72 challenger left the lot chirped his tires and got pulled over and busted by 3 or 4 cop cars. I gotta admit that was pretty dumb but it was kinda funny.
I saw a guy with two little kids lift them into the front seat of a 300J vert with perfect leather. Both kids had shoes full of mud.

I got yelled at by a little kid a couple years back at the spring fling. I was sitting on the fender waiting for my brothers and the little man made eye contact froze in his tracks and said “Dad!!! He’s sitting on that car!!!” I explained it’s okay if you own it. Let him stand on my front seat for a good pic for his dad. Kinda cool the kid knew the rules about messing with the cars. Good dads teach that.

One of the first shows I participated in the guy parking me backed me into the curb and an electrical box. And then proceeded to lay the string across my header panel.

I hate anyone randomly touching my car without permission - but my cars are drivers so I don’t mind too much. But if I owned a Hurst and someone was messing with the fiberglass? I’d freak!!

Two events come to mind.
There used to be an annual MOPAR show in Vernon Connecticut & for many years they had an informal show on Saturday before the big show on Sunday. Some people would come from out of state and stay at the hotel behind the area where the show was held. On Saturdays it was common for guys to do burnouts up & down the driveway. One Saturday a guy in a heavily modified E Body was doing what I considered to be dangerous, long & smoky burnouts. On one burnout heading toward the busy street out front his removable steering wheel came off in his hands and the car headed toward the right curb. The right front wheel hit & jumped the curb and thankfully stopped a few feet from where some people were standing watching the action. I don’t think that the car was damaged but the owner quietly drove the car back to his trailer and disappeared.
My second dumb thing memory happened during the award presentation at Carlisle 20+ years ago. It used to be common for people to do a burnout as they pulled up for their trophy. This one guy does a massive burnout but got his right rear tire off the pavement and his tire through a lot of mud on the 65 or 66 Fury behind him. When Mr. burnout did not stop & go over to the Fury after he got his award and just drove off the owner of the Fury just took off after Mr. Burnout and chased him down. Later on Carlisle announced that Mr. Burnout helped the Fury owner wash all of the mud off the Fury.

Quit goin to them years ago for miltiple reasons. Got sick of the coments, the touching and, seeing the same click of people. Also it always bothered me that when there is music all the play is 50's. I would say 75 to 80% of the cars are from the 60's and 70's. I got sick of hearing "splish slash" .

Fingerprints are no big deal imo. We all carry a bottle of quick detail spray and micro cloth in our cars.

It’s the lycra boy who must ride his bicycle between cars at cruise-ins. Then you get the yuppie couple that shoves their baby stroller up against your car so they can check-out the interior. Or the people that just have to bring their big dog with the heavy chain leash to walk among the cars. Another thing I noticed, more this year at Carlisle, were all the people walking the show video recording with their phone in their face not watching where they were going.
I quit attending the Woodward Cruise day for years after I found some broad sitting on the hood of my GTO while it was parked in our club’s lot.

Had that exact stroller thing happen to me at Woodward in '08 when I'd parked the Batwagon in the Ball Field "park" at 13 mile and Woodward and yes the little gremlin did leave scratches on my left fender with the bottom of hiz little sneakers. And then the bich had the audacity to cuss me out when I called her on it. Had to keep myself in check that time from knocking on her forehead and asking if their was anyone home in there, SHISH .. Same year Chip Foose was set up on the Ball Diamond strutting around like a Peacock trying to act important

Wow, you are SO right about this. It's my pet-peeve. Why the need to blare any damn music in the first place? People come to shows to look and cars and talk about them, not to have to yell over Splish Splash for the thousandths time. It's not a friggin' sock hop. And then there's the over-exuberant DJ....and nobody can hear other people chatting when an amplified voice is blathering something about "sponsors". Grrrrrr.....
Let me just say.....I've gone to almost every the Amelia Concours since '98. No dolls, no Splish, no sitting on fenders, no kids on bikes, no pets, and the strollers are handled by nannies at a safe distance whilst the parents enjoy the cars. It's all very sedate and polite and posh, yet joyous.
Admission is $150 day-of-show, a beer is $10, a Bloody or a bourbon is $15, burgers and whatnot are $15-20. That tends to keep the riff-raff out.

I was at a Mopar show and it was near the end, many cars had already left and I saw a Photographer with a model in a pink bikini sprawled out on the hood a Panther Pink Challenger. I was like ok till I saw them go over to some other car where she walked over to some other car and leaned over the front like she was trying to give the car a hug, that was when they got called out by someone, I don't even think it was their car.

I was at the Fabulous Fords Forver show a few years ago and a gent who had a well done Grabber Maverick let his wife drive it off the show grounds.
She got into the throttle while turning right out of the parking lot and panicked, started fish-tailing and ended up jumping the center divider and mowing down some shrubs and smashing the car into a light pole. The cars drivers side and front rim were mangled and the car had to be towed.
