Edelbrock carb mod on a 77 monaco

as a kid I couldn't put my head around the idea of running a carb the size of a beer can.

Can someone tell me why this adapter plate is needed?
I have an Edelbrock performer 440 intake (same carb flange) and 1411 carb. Fits perfect...

Mopar SB & BB Eddie Performer manifolds are cast for TQ application. Most Eddie carbs are square bore and that is why Eddie includes the 2732 plate with the BB manifold.

The Edelbrock Tech line will tell you the same thing....

I understand the difference in flanges, but what is the advantage of using the plate?
I did make sure there is no leaks between the carb and intake manifold and the motor runs fine with no hiccups or bogs.
Will there be any difference if I install the plate?

Pffftt... Skip the 4 bbl. Rebuild the 2bbl.

Gotta agree with you on this one. The 318 in my truck purrs like a kitten after I replaced the needle and seat assembly, and gave it a new gasket. Fires up instantly too.
