I got the fuel pump removed, I was able to get the compression fitting on the hard line loosened, cleaned up the hard line and fuel pump surface on the engine cleaned up and installed the fuel pump.

I visited an upholstery shop in Sioux Falls and discovered that to reupholster the seats on Elwood would be costly (3k+), therefore I will find a cover.

I got the outer fender liner and lower radiator hose installed. I also straightened out the air cleaner lid, as it was bent.

I then tried out the mini starter and new fuel pump.

The other day, I discovered that Elwood had a trunk light.
It was missing the switch that screws into the trunk opening. I ordered a truck switch and it arrived yesterday. I simply added an insulated female 1/4” spade connector and installed the switch. Bam! Functional trunk light!

I started the replacement for the transmission shift shaft seal. My Lord, what a mess!

I got the throttle and shift levers removed and I will attack the small seal first and then see if I can get the tool in there without dropping the transmission crossmember.

I dropped the valve body and removed the transmission seal. Both of them. Installed the new kick down seal and the shift control seal.
First one that I attempted to install was misaligned with the washers and bent it. Second one went in ok.
Next: transgo tf-2 shift kit and band adjustments.
Minimal gunk in the pan…

I finally got the Transgo TF-2 kit installed. Lots going on with other things. I might get it installed into the transmission tomorrow or Friday.

Instructions weren’t very good, but good enough.

I have a TCI aluminum pan to cover it up.

I had to replace the shift and throttle lever bolts, because I had left them in a tub of 30% vinegar and they got eaten away so much that they were useless. Off to the Hall of Shame they go. They weren’t the first and most definitely won’t be the last additions!

Installed fuel sending unit. Existing one works, but is missing the float. Verified resistance of both. 10.5 - 75 ohms.
Gauge now registering a fuel level!

I go by the 140 or 200 mile rule for fill ups, depending on the car. Although the wagon does have a working gauge, with a cooked engine.

I usually might get 200 miles out of a tank of gas with these. I have a lead foot!

I got the valve cover gaskets and covers with PCV and crankcase vent installed.
