Dielectric grease is NONCONDUCTIVE. It does NOT improve connectivity. If it did you wouldn't want to use it in places like the bulkhead connector as it would cause short circuits between connector pins.

I believe I used the grease to displace the oxygen that will be present in the bulkhead connector after cleanup,
(it may have been silicone grease)
I do this also for the battery terminal connections.

Apologies, I believe the bulkhead connector recieved a different type of grease using a pick & Q-tip to insert small amounts of the grease. I don't remember what type.

I'll have to look again.

EDIT: it was silicone grease.

Silicone grease is nonconductive, aka dielectric grease.

Huh, interesting but Noncunductive?

It's not corroding & causing issues so I'm not complaining though. XD
*Crossing fingers*

But if shorting out is the case, that is troubling.

Conductivity isn't the issue. It's corrosion. The contacts sliding together makes the electrical connection. The dielectric grease keeps the salt, water and other crud away from the contact surface. These connectors are not environmentally sealed like modern vehicle connectors are.
