So last night I was reading the Collectible Automobile article from years back on the '69-'73 Fury Fusies. It was a good article and made me think of how I would rank the styling and overall design of that generation. If I had a choice of any of the 5 years of production available to me, all other things being equal, what would be my ranking?

I think I ended up like this:

1. 1971
2. 1970
3. 1972
4. 1973
5. 1969

My rationale is that overall I like the first iteration of the Fuselage design generally better than the later versions. I like the '71 just slightly more than the '70, but those two are pretty close. The '72 beats out the '73 by an equally small margin - and if the choice was an exposed-headlight '72 I might go for the equivalent '73 first, but the hidden-headlight '72 front end is preferable for me to the '73. The '69 trails the pack by a considerable margin for me overall.

I am trying to base this strictly upon design, leaving out things like the availability of a convertible the first 2 years, the Sport Fury GT model in '70 and '71, etc. My theoretical car lot had equivalent models in equivalent shape and equally-appealing colors & trim in each model year available to me.

What say you all?

I've been trying to decide which Fusie Is the best looking one for 40 years. I'll have to get back to you on that....

That's simple, 73 Imperial. Next question.

I like them all. I can't say right now which one...........it'll be whatever one that I buy.

I think he was just talking about the Fury model. Even when you guys think you're on topic you're not!

I knew he was talking about the Fury but I followed along with Stan's hijack. ;)

Oh' we're talking just Furys (fun fact #89: plural of Fury is Furys, not Furies)?.
It's the 72's.
That grill is a sexual experience in itself.

That's ok, my fave is the '67 Imperial.

I felt obligated as a slabaholic.

I just put ten minutes of thought into this before I realized I cant use the sport model....never mind I dont want one

Based on exterior styling only, I would list my favorite Furies (Furys ?) as;
1. 1970
2. 1969
3. 1971
4. 1972
5. 1973
My top five picks for other fusilage C-bodies, again based on exterior styling only, would be;
1. 1971 Chrysler 300
2. 1969 Chrysler 300
3. 1971 Chrysler Newport Custom
4. 1970 Dodge Monaco
5. 1972 Dodge Monaco
I'm not including the '70 300-H, even though I do really like them, just regular production cars.:)

If I were doing my "Top 10" favorite non-Plymouth C-bodies;
6. 1970 Chrysler 300
7. 1970 Chrysler Newport
8. 1971 Dodge Monaco/Polara
9. 1969-73 Imperial
10. 1969-71 Chrysler New Yorker
All of the cars I listed are 2-door hardtops. I'm not very familiar with Imperials or New Yorkers so I grouped all the fusilage years together.:laughing4:

favorite fusey furys
1970 (clearly)
1971
big gap after these two, then
1969
1972
1973 (the 73 definetly the most unattractive of them with a huge distance)
