Newport 66
Old Man with a Hat
I had a 70 coronet 440 with a factory chrome center section between the bumpers. My 70 coronet 500 was painted Burnt Orange like the rest of the body. I alwa us thought that was a bit odd.....
GOD that Imperial is SOMETHING! You have to share more pics...I don't think I've seen many that color...Silver Frost I believe...

I don't recall ever seeing a Fusie Imp or a Chrysler painted in Y9 Tawny Gold Metallic and later Y9 Tahitian Gold Metallic. My favorite color is the 1975-1978 Y9 Spanish Gold. I don't know if the Fusie Y9's had green metallic in it but the one and only 1978 Chrysler Newport in Y9 Spanish Gold that my friend Mike (Newp) in Indiana car is my favorite paint color. It looks so rich and brilliant in the bright sun with the Gold paint and I couldn't believe how much green mettalic is in that paint color. If anyone has a 1975-1978 paint and trim book can see the brilliance that I'm talking about in the Y9 Spanish Gold Metallic sample.
I actually do have a 1971 Imperial coupe in Y9 spanish gold metallic. But it is one of my least favorite colors because unless it is in bright sunlight, it looks drab and lifeless to me (too dark). Maybe mine just needs some buffing, but so far I haven't been able to warm up to it. But I still bought the car because it has only 50K miles on it and is the smoothest running 440 I have ever had. In terms of gold metallics, I gravitate to Aztec gold metallic combined with a white interior and white vinyl top.
But I will have to look up the 1975 -1978 color and perhaps put that shade on my 1971 Imperial when I redo the paint. Thanks for the hint.
Would it be similar to this Dodge? Or maybe you have a photo showing it?

I guess I'll just have to post up 51 pics of NYB front ends and call out, Checkmate....
The corner of both of these coupes' hoods are sticking up, is this common on the 72's?Here's a couple for you doc, and one more pic to add to your collection that I saved.View attachment 152427 View attachment 152428 View attachment 152429
It looks good until you get past the shoulders...
I have to say that gold beauty is easy on the eye...can you elaborate on the history and back story on it?
Nice pic. Is that our famous Stan seated on the right? Looks like he can and would kick some butt if you touch his car.
Yes, thank you, I had to edit to protect his "secret identity"...Nice pic. Is that our famous Stan seated on the right? Looks like he can and would kick some butt if you touch his car.

The upper trim cars had the painted center section to look like two separate loop bumpers. Dad said it was tough too find a vender to stamp that thing and keep everything straight.I had a 70 coronet 440 with a factory chrome center section between the bumpers. Sorry meant to add the quote. 74 NYB on that gold/brown shade beauty? It belongs to a friend of mine. He has had it for 10 years. Its from the Chicago area. 50,000 mile one owner car. Had some sheet metal damage from the original owner to the front end and that is why he has NYB front fenders, header and hood on it. Has T&T, power windows skirts, and a 400.
It looks more brown. I favor brown cars ...
