Just cleaning up the firewall on my 68 Polara. I'm curious what if anything the oval cut out, albeit it plugged, behind the drivers side head is for? Or does it have any purpose? Seems to be a haven for rust. Here's a pic

It was the Eastwood stuff. Actually a buddy of mine painted the air cleaner years back, a seldom-seen member here- @red skunkPH, what great crinkle paint did you use for the air cleaner.....looks like a new car from the pics....jealousy indeed.
