Flat towing a C body

Thank you all for your feedback.
All feedback is a gift. Some of the feedback is very helpful. Others make gigantic assumptions. Others are helpful and try to understand before jumping to conclusions.

I see you’re a senior member, so I will make an assumption you likely know what type of advice you’re gonna get from certain individuals here. I am like you, I like all the feed back, good and bad. And sometimes when folks do provide input based on gigantic assumptions, it can actually be a little enlightening and make me realize some things that I may not have thought of on my own (like perhaps checking your insurance policy).

back to the topic, and I will be the first to tell you I have never towed my car, but the fact you are RVing, I want to assume you are taking this trip for pleasure/vacation…. Not getting evicted and having to live out of your RV for the foreseeable future…. If indeed it is about having a good time, I’d say trailer that beautiful car of yours so you can quickly back it out at your destination and go have fun! If even one mishap occurs while you’re flat towing, big or small, it is going to have a real negative impact on the purpose of your trip…. Again, me making an assumption your RV trip is focused on relaxation/vacation. As @Big_John might say….. It’s just my opinion…

I've tried doing the "RV thing" and decided that hotels and cruise ships were more relaxing. I like the nature part, but it always seemed like more work than I wanted to do. Now... Cruise ships... Ahhh... Toss the keys and cell phone in the safe and get a drink with an umbrella in it and let everybody else do the work.

Of course, it's just my opinion....

I'd rather be here ... ships are full of , well, people ( to be nice ).

I like Amtrak. Private compartment in a attended coach, all meals inclusive, (Chef prepared, not airline food). The domed observation cars are fantastic. The train goes places nothing else does. (Great views of the salvage yards in all city's). You can disembark along the way for a few days, many National parks in route. Most folks traveling by train are there for the adventure, you'll meet interesting folks. Not much like falling asleep to the sounds and motions of the train.
Most relaxing way to travel I've ever done.

We did Amtrak to Branson, MO once. It was a great experience. Caught the Pullman coach for the overnight in Syracuse somewhere around midnight and got into Chicago late the next morning. That was great. The standard faire to Branson wasn't as much fun as there was a lot of delays and in hindsight, I would have just rented a car and drove instead, but it was still a great experience that I would do again.

This is just so stupid on so many levels that I can't even comprehend it!

This is what you should be towing, not a big *** C body!!

I really don't have to explain myself, and you should be able to think about why this is stupid, but since you asked.
I take you don't know any RV'ers that pull toads and know how much of a PITA it is just dealing with a FWD vehicle let alone a RWD car that you now have to deal with a driveshaft? I'm here to vacation and RV, not dick around with a driveshaft on a classic car!
I wonder what his classic car insurance will say if something bad happens to said vehicle being towed and not being driven? Would they even allow that? You're just asking to screw yourself if something happens to the car!
You do what you want because people do stupid things like this, but I sure as hell wouldn't do it, even if you paid me 100 times what my cars worth! Why do you think your insurance rates are so high as they are to begin with?
It needs to be either a 4WD on all 4's, which is a "flat tow" and not trailered, or a FWD on a tow dolly!

If you call someone’s intentions, actions, desires, or questions stupid it’s the same thing, it’s insulting and against the site rules. You can say it without making a judgement.

Also you are not the single authority on what is and is not stupid, allowed, etc. Give your reasons and opinions all you want, but provide the input without the proclamations please. The members will consider advice and make up their own minds.

Next year, May and December. Going to be gone for Chistmas and New Year.
We have one scheduled for October, but I don't know what's up. It was originally for last year but we moved it to this year.

They are looking for the balance.... We had only put $100 down on the cruise and I'll walk away from that if need be if they impose too many restrictions. Everything seems to be up in the air.

I'm still leery about this year.
