Well. . . I'll certainly thank you for posting that link. I just spent the last half hour looking at those old photos. Not only great cars, but also many people from that time (Elvis, Buddy Holly, James Dean, Roy Orbison (only shot I ever saw of him without dark sun glasses), and of course the great Bo Diddly.
Imagine an 8 - 9 year old kid seeing the first ads for them....
You can't duplicate that reaction today unless it's in a computer game.
Tragic. All the best stuff is fake now.
Somebody back in the day said to this one it's the best Chevy Ford ever built. I agree and I like it for that reason as I prefere the GM design over the more formal Ford in general.
1960 & 61 were two of the best years of automotive design. Stepping out of the lavishly chrome laden designs of the 50's, almost every American auto manufacturer produced extremely attractive designs, full of character and self identy.
Besides the design & style, the powerful multi carburated engines were becomming common place in most car lines besides the high end luxury models. These years were really when the high performance supercars took hold, way before a GTO or Mustang was thought of.
