For the Fusey Imperial Lovers

So, not to count my chickens before they hatch, but this Imp should be in my possession later this afternoon. We have a deal on a handshake as of yesterday afternoon. This picture pretty well speaks for the overall condition of the entire car.

Great job! Share some more pics when you get her home later...and keep us up to speed on your silver one, too.

It is hard to be sure, but to me, it looks like it still has an original Chrysler Autotemp II control module under the hood. First thing I would do is upgrade it with one from Performance Analysis Company. The original ones tend to develop cracks in the plastic/bakelite housings and while you are driving along, you lose your coolant - and hopefully you notice before it is too late. The upgraded ones don't suffer that problem and they are more reliable operationally too.

Hope you end up with it soon and fully enjoy it. It is truly a beautiful car and I really love the color. Perfect for that car. And I even like the cloth version of those seats with the neat pattern in it and the supportive cushions. You made the right decision. I really doubt any other car you might have would give as much driving pleasure as those cars do going down the highway.

Congratulations and many happy miles.

I made it a gunmetal color in my mind, and through the power of hypnosis, that's forever how I will see it. :)

Holy cow the underhood area looks great, you're stepping into a showcar! BTW, the original back seat from my Imperial is in really nice shape. If yours ends up being damaged or weathered, I'd like to help you out instead of storing it in my garages attic.

and a few more, steering gear is leaking like a sieve out of the lower seal, and the accelerator pump needs some attention but all's good other than that.

Sorry to tease, when I first looked at it I really had no intention of buying it. The more I thought about it the more I realized I'd be a fool to pass it up, less than 20 miles from my house. Heck I couldn't even sleep Tuesday night thinking about it. The seller is a very nice older gentleman who happens to also have some cars with the sparkplugs through the center of the valve covers...

Congrats again on getting the B5...If you every get tired of it or your wife says it's got to go... I'll find a warm spot amongst the red ones here in Minnesota ...or maybe give that silver one a chance in the spotlight too...

Very neat to see it in your garage on the lift, congrats! Please drive it to Volo :D

Maybe I missed the back story...But did the old guy buy it in 73?

He bought it in '99 at the Wichita swap meet, which ironically is the same place the previous owner of my '71 Polara wagon picked up that wagon. The Imperial came from New Mexico is all he knew about its history. He took all the trim off and sanded it down to bare metal before painting it in 2000. I'm going to go see him on Saturday to get some of the pictures during that process.

Megawattkid - thanks for the dream I once had that has now been shattered. (LOL) I'm elated you have in your possession, a fine B5 that will be loved. Good on ya - I'm in envy.
Cheers.
Ron
