Found nice 70 383 Chrysler Newport

So you got it for a grand? ................Nice! A jersey car too.......now that you got it, where from?

No good "suspension" shops I know of. A few decent shops but thats it , no specializing.

The car is in Woodbridge. I want to find a shop that can rebuild the front end or atleast install control arm bushings because it's a bear to do it by one self in the driveway. If not I'll do it myself if I have to.

really? It never bothered me. Your a bit north of me so anyone I know is out...

Polara71, although the car is from north jersey, I reside in south Jersey, so by mid week I hope to have it down here. In fact I'm about 15 or so miles south of Hi-Nella. To me no distance is too far to hunt mopars; two weeks ago I went all the way Pittsburgh to look at a 70' Imperial.:weg:
BTW-my dad owned two Polaras brand new; a 70' and 71'. I think the 70' was a 383. Don't remember about the 71'.

Small world, huh?

There is a shop on Rt 30 / White Horse Pike in Lindenwold called Vinces. They are not a suspension shop but they do get old cars to work on frequently and show respect to them. The other shop is Balduccis car care in Cherry Hill off of 295 and Rt 70 sandwhiched between the turnpike and 295. Dom has the best prices and a customer list a million days long, because he's the best and for that you'll wait. Though it will be done right.

15 miles south? That puts you around Mullica Hill.........Nice find on the car. If necessary I can spare a bay for a week or two and you can use my garage...........but theres no lift.

Yes, but I'm more in the Woolwich/Swedesboro area. I appreciate your very generous offer to utilize one of your bays to work in. I usually do my all my work in my driveway. I have junk on one side of my garage, and the Challenger is sitting on the other side, so I may take you up on the offer in the near future. As far as the lift goes I've never had that luxury - so I won't miss it either, no worries.
I'm catching a ride up to North Jersey and hoping to drive the Newport back down here this Saturday morning coming up, as long as the seller gets things squared away on his end.
Thanks for the shop names, I'll be calling both of them tomorrow. The first thing she needs for sure is a complete set of new bushings up & down, left and right, and perhaps tie rods, and some other odds and ends. Then its a new exhaust system. I heard "C" body headers are now available for 383 cu in fuselage cars, ever seen any of those? If not, I'll have a shop I know of in Pennsauken cobble up duals starting from the factory manifolds straight back to chrome tips. After I get her back home there are some under hood pieces that will be swapped out immediately as they look like originals, i.e. battery, alternator, water pump, distributor, etc....switch over to electronic ignition and so on. I'm also going to ditch the factory 2bbl set up in favor for aluminum intake/4bbl affair. I've got tons of parts to start buying......

The tti headers seem to be the way to go, I haven't seen any complaints just good things.

Looks like you have plenty to do and a nice list started. That ought to make a great daily driver.

I spent the last six years off and on in East Greenwhich on Wolfert Station, Tomlin Station and on Friendship roads, at various job sites. I got to know the area fairly well finding places to eat lunch.

Yup, I know exactly where those places are. I drive through E. Greenwhich almost daily on my way back and forth to Haddonfield and parts further north. State Route 45, which goes though that area, has lots of places to grab eats at. There's a particular diner there I frequent every now and then, I forgot the name but it has a "50's" theme look to it, they even have an old 55' Thunderbird parked inside the main entrance. They serve everything from seafood to pizza and are open 24/7 (I think). Ever been there??
I stopped at a shop in Audubon this morning that specializes in American/Foreign repairs. They always have a ton of older cars parked outside.....it appears their bread and butter work is Rolls Royce cars, but I've seen early mustangs, AMCs, a stage I Buick, and vettes to name a few parked inside and out front. Seem like they are very reputable. The name is Palma's. Don't know if you have any experience with them, thought I'd just throw it out there. I might speak with one of the owners later today about the Newport.

Oh, the place in Audubon has to be the old Sunoco station. I grew up two blocks away. They have been there (if its the same owners) since 1980 or so. Two doors up from the used to be Gulf station.

I know the diner, never been there . Thats just north of Mantua, I guess part of Woodbury. I usually head south to the Great Wall across from Bottos or into Mulica Hill to the pizza shop in the red barn off 322. I forget the name but I love the sausage sandwhich, fries and a huge coke for $6.50.

Yup, you nailed it right on the head. There are two former gas stations there, both are now small time auto repair.

Been there done that, great pizza at the red barn. They have a nice deck to enjoy eating food in the summer time, right on the street. They even let you bring pets as long as they are leashed.

Well, I spoke with Balducci (Dom?) last night about drilling out old bushings in left/right control arms and installing new ones. Very friendly and knowledgable folks. Gonna cost an arm & TWO legs but atleast it won't take long to complete the job......a day maybe two at the most.

I have been to going to Doms for 26 years. Not only is he a professional mechanic but also a professional racer, he knows his stuff.

I sent you a PM

Well. I certainly don't want to do it.....
When's your next trip to Disney World? LMAO

I serve a free complimentary breakfast. A cup of coffee and two aspirin...

NO Disney world for me Stan, I have no interest in it and no cash to do it.

In reply to your PM I have been satisfied going there. Dom always does the right thing and if the work is incorrect he corrects it immediately without cost or question. (he hardly does the work himself but does most of the diagnosis)

He has always given me a break on the price but many times I had to wait a long time for the car. Though I took him my truck recently to replace a bearing and I had it back within two days, that was a record.
