Hi,

I a bit of issue with part numbers for my fuel tank for my 65 Polara. I always assumed that the tank was not available new so my plan was to refurb my current one. I recently purchased on flea-bay.. A part number service pamphlet for 1965 Polara/880/Monaco and its pretty cool.(Published in 1971 and just 16 pages). The part number that it lists for the tank is 2800923. My 65 parts book list it as 2530714. Would the original part number be superseded to the new one? if So this one is available
66-70 C-Body Fuel Tank, Non ECS-Repro

I have attached the relevant pages.

According to someone on here the newer tank will fit, but you will need the sending unit and straps for the '66-'70 tank. Also the newer tank has less capacity and doesn't look anything like the '65 tank. I don't know if Chrysler superseded the '65 tank up to the newer tank. If mine is bad I'm going to get it fixed.

Thanks, I just found it curious that it was different p/n. What is the difference in capacity between the tanks? I think that a car this big you would want the largest that would fit...

Yeah really!
I'm pretty sure the '65 tank is 25 gallons, and the later tank is something like 20, or 22 gallons.

The later is officially 23 but if the nose of the car is slightly down at fill you'll get 25.
