The FSM says to lower the front of the tank so the filler tube clears the hole in the rear crossmember. I don't see how that is going to work with the bracket that is clamped to the filler tube. Is the filler tube just stuck down through a grommet into the tank? I was thinking of trying to rotate it 90 degrees so the bracket can fit through the sheet metal. Thx.

Sometimes if the tank is rusted, the inlet tube will be rusted to the rubber grommet. Spraying the grommet with silicone spray along the seams will help loosen it up. Always replace the rubber grommet any time the inlet tube is removed, do not use any type of sealer on it! The silicone spray or Ruglide can be used to help reinstall the inlet tube. If the inlet tube is rusted, discard it and install a new one.

I was able to get a pipe wrench on it and turn it. It moves freely now and will come out. Worked on the j bolts tonight. Hard to get a purchase on the nuts. I will buy an extra deep 9/16 socket tomorrow. Everything else is loosened and ready to go.
