Gapping hole in mah muffler O_O

I knew i had exhaust leak somewhere around the muffler, and now it's yuge...
I already have my mufflers picked out will get replaced after i finish my engine work...

Why does it look like those pipes to the muffler are so small? Mufflers couldn't keep up with the flow? Otherwise?

no idea, (stock 383, 2bbl) will be getting replaced with 2.25" pipes

I had that happen once on the '59 Imperial.....the condenser was going bad and cut out while driving...put gas into combustion chamber spark came back on in an instant and hobang....time for new mufflers.
