Did he give description of the no start?
Is he a car guy, mechanic or even mechanically inclined? Maybe not if he screwed the battery install.
Starter relay is Sr109 Standard. About $20.
If you are committed to the purchase, you may want to inform the seller that you would like to take it as is. If he’s got low mechanical and electrical aptitude, he could do more damage than aid…He says he will be tracing the wire. His words. I do not know his aptitude with cars.

I think I'd gamble on 300 mile tow as well. Just go and pick it up with your F150 and trailer.
If it was nicer weather I'd probably lean towards driving it home. But it's miserable outside, they've been out salting the roads, and your Imperial sounds too nice for that.
