Spent the day buffing and waxing... looked so nice I took her out to a cruise night:
Unfortunately that’ll be the last one for a bit as she over heated, roached the heater core and spit hot antifreeze all over the passenger side footwell... nothin' like hot acid steam in your face on the highway.

It does but figuring that would eventually (probably sooner) happen was precisely the reason I had neither pulled up nor replaced the carpet yet... pretty thankful I had at least that foresight!

Well, had to happen at some point, why not after the heater core blows?
Yanked the seats and the carpet today. Pretty surprised at the floor pan condition. The worst parts are the driver rear and the passenger front And even at that, can’t find a pinhole with my drop light underneath... I’m sure that’ll change once I get to grinding on it. Rest of the floors look like they were just welded in!
I figure I’ll get restless after doing the lawn and get the rear seat back and package tray out tonight.. then it’s back to building stuff to support this here habit. Hopefully have some time over the week to get at that blower box and find someone to rebuild it.

I’m rather impressed, man. I know the problems in the trunk, around the rear window, I’m pretty sure there’s a spot in the firewall and I’m sure there will be at least a few pinholes in the driver rear floor pan but otherwise... she held up real good... must’ve been loved a lot somewhere along the line.

I did find one spot in the driver rear pan this A.M. with the drop light. Screw it, I'm buying a welder anyway, good a place as any to start!
Like I said, I'm anticipating problems in the pass. front but man, I've seen so many of these cars with floors that a child could fall through ... this is almost laughable.

Bev is clearly headed into another phase here. I barely got a month of driving out of her but there's still too much sketchy stuff going on for me to really rest on it. I'm stoked on the lack of rot I've found in her thus far and thats pushing me to rip into the interior and all of the drains.
It doesn't make too much sense for me to put the interior back as it stands. The carpet is garbage, the seats (esp the drivers) are pretty crispy so mounting them over a new carpet while they spew rotten foam is a recipe to start smoking again. The door panels would be fine with a little love, the headliner is crap. Most of the chrome is good with a little elbow grease. The package tray is screwed but I'll have to build that ... never seen another solid example out of the square perforated material this one is made of. The dash pad is stupidly solid (though that may change if it comes out) ... all the dash bezels are chromeless at this point but I really don't care much about that. .. certainly not enough to replace them. The paint on the lower dash and column is ugly and stained.. might re spray that or see what a good cleaning does.... steering wheel is good enough for the girls I go out with.
Mechanically, the drivetrain just needs a front to back rebuild... nothing fancy, just basically put it all back to stock .. while its out, clean up the engine bay, treat or patch any rust (there is a little in the firewall), re do the compartment seals up there, replace the washer res, pump and hoses.
Might as well clean, patch and treat the trunk while I'm in dere, eh?
Electronically, it's certainly past due for the ammeter bypass. Ultimately I'd like a starter upgrade and as much new wiring as possible ... something is up in my gauge cluster .. the temp reads about 1/4 gauge low and the gas gauge reads equally low. I hate to do it, but aside from fixing that, I wouldn't mind a small sort of hidden cluster under the ashtray of reliable gauges for temp, volts and oil.
I'm not sure how deep I want to get here, mostly because I like the car how it is (or how it looks), the idea would be more to preserve what is. The end hit of this phase would be to pull the windshield and rear window, get that window channel (and dutchmans panel .. and c pillar) fixed, the roof and deck lid probably down to tops of the fenders painted, put in a new headliner and that'd be it... I'm just kind of confused as to why I wouldn't go whole hog and go down to nuts and bolts at that point. I don't intend to get rid of her and I've got a good chunk to get started with.
I'll keep looking into it ... see what she tells me. Let me know what you guys think.

That looks to be in remarkable shape. Get help from someone with that (if you haven't already), those springs killed mine.

Yea, I lifted one of the weaker springs off it and it split a bit. The one in the driver seat back might be easier but as I’m likely getting them all redone, might not matter anyway.
Yep, they are delicate! Have your helper lift the springs with both hands while you get the sheet out, that way you can only blame yourself if it gets torn. I'm still mad at myself, bad helper!

This came out of the 67 Fury II wagon from the original seats. Changing over from a beige interior to a copper interior. So new copper seats are now in. Old ones went away. It took 3 of us to get this out. One to hold the seat, one to lift the springs, and one to actually take out the sheet. As @LocuMob said, have help to get it out. It makes it easier, and it will not rip the sheet. Best of luck

would disappear the condition of the seats to the average one eyed colorblind fellow:

Legendary manufactures nothing for the car. Guess I’ll hit up some local upholstery shops, get a guess on yardage and contact SMS.
