The seats are lookin' great Gavin, look original believe it or not and man they really looked like crap before you had the redone. Glad to see an update on ole Bev too, I hope the car will be ready for the Papa's Mopar show at the end of next month!

Oh Bub, she won’t be ready for anything for some time. That overheat set her back a few years. That said, she’s getting some work done and I do hope to be out there soon!

Hey all,

Pretty minor question but I got a good three weeks off coming down the pike. In that time, my intent is to get the rest of the interior out and begin clean up on a few things.

Biggest question is for you fellers who have dealt with discoloration of plastic products... for example, my rear seat frame (the plastic part that wraps the top of the back seat and frames the package tray), while it’s solid, is pretty severely discolored.. as is the console base. Likely from the decades of Texas sun.

I’m hoping to get some time in on that minutiae but am wondering where you have turned to for product? I’m aware of a lot of products but I’m just not sure about color matching. Did you take a decent example in and have it mixed? Was there anything out of the can, cleaner or otherwise?

Just trying to get a lay o the land.

Gav, I have used SEM products with much success. Just make sure you follow directions to a T.

Did mine 2 years ago.
I found a color match close enough at my local H.D.
Had to eyeball the color match from a sales brochure as it had been painted black years ago.
Found a nice Antique Bronze in a fan spray can to match the console and dash pad. Hit it with some satin clear to knock down the gloss.
As I had it out I Gorilla glued some alum sq. shaped tube at the defroster opening to take some of the warp out of the panels.
I'm happy with results!

I know. I’m keeping my phone far away when I don’t need it and can’t/won’t take it or my computer in the garage. Be thankful. I’d likely be a more hateful person if I wasn’t taking a break from that stuff.

That was the first thing I noticed after retiring. Phone silence! Turned in the company phone and gave nobody my personal cell number.
Which I now keep turned off since the robo-calls kept punching through on bluetooth in my car. I’m now in text-and-return when I get around to it mode.

it’s the way to be. Otherwise I spit nails all the time and I’m already too old for that.

Digging in a little today, got the sail panels, door cards, rear seat panels, upper chrome, visors and rear view mirror out. Pretty surprised at the cleanliness inside the doors considering the sweeps are virtually non existent.

Front cards are savable, rears will require some creativity

hoping I can snatch the side windows and mechanisms out this weekend as basically every single one needs to be rebuilt.

Anyway, that’s my story.

I haven't posted in a while, but have been following this thread, you project is coming along. The car looks real solid. My car is not too bad but with the back seat out I could see the 500 trim from the inside. The wide trim holds surprises, but I don't think it's a problem for you.

I don't have a good picture but maybe this gives you an idea. Made a patch panel a few years ago

Yeah, I wouldn’t doubt it. Esp in the trunk area on mine, the rear window was leaking for some time... not sure how much weather this car saw but a enough Have the window channel for our and put a few holes in the trunk floor. We’ll see when I get the trim off.

I have similar issues with the rear channel, which had a driver quality repair years ago. I sort of postponed a proper major repair and vinyl roof removal by running a bead of butyl below the chrome. I saw pictures of yours at the beginning of the thread, you may be slightly worse off than me though. If your car was mainly out of the weather hopefully the trunk may not have fared too bad. Although driven daily, mine was garaged, and was rusty where the water would have pooled, above the sub-frame area.

On an unrelated note, did you see what I would call the "gasser style" 1967 500 in this thread?

My trunk is weak in the same areas. The issues with my window channel extend a good 1/4" beyond the lip of the trim into the dutchman's panel ... also out toward the sail panel on the driver side. It's pretty crappy but I'll pick away at it.

I remember seeing a thread on that Monaco. Not exactly my cup o tea ... not to say that I didn't once try and build a really fast Monaco, I just tried to stay away from stuff that made it look fast. To each their own.

If I remember your sequence of posts, you were aware of the rear window from the beginning, so hopefully the extent of the rust is not too much of a surprise.
I'll have to find the thread on the Monaco. Not my cup of tea either, but fabrication skills are better than mine. What I see is the modification of the 500 trim. The trim looked all most too good to be modified.
