I read about it some time ago. Basically, the firmware was hacked, making it possible to force the printer head to emit sounds of a desired frequency, thus transforming the printer into a musical instrument :).

I also like what they did here.

I remember we had an IBM 1401 program back in the sixties that played "Anchors Aweigh" on 600 LPM printer. We also had a program that would play twenty different Christmas carols on the tape drives attached to an IBM 7094 computer. We had two channels with ten drives on each channel. When we dialed in all twenty, it sounded like a big pipe organ.
 
The bluesy version works well.
