Headlight motor burned.

Working on my 68 300, got my horns working again, after replacing both horns, now removed headlight motor. I cannot get the 2 screws on the body loose! I did pull end caps as far as I could, looks like inner windings are burned up. Are there after market motors out there or can these be rebuilt? The gears looked in real good shape.

I cannot get the 2 screws on the body loose!

If you mean the 2 screws holding the magnets in, don't even try. The only way I've seen those removed is with a screwdriver bit being pushed down with an arbor press so the bit stays in the screw. Then the bit has to have a handle on it for leverage.

In other words, they really aren't intended to ever come out.

That makes sense to me! I gently held the motor in my vise for leverge and they didnt budge! Do windings look burned?, the insulation is also crispy crumbly. Hopefully I can locate another motor.

you could possibly go to a hobby store and get a "redneck" alternative. they have some pretty high powered rc car motors at hobby lobby. redwing is a good online alternative

Thanks for that tip, ive found a place to send mine to be rebuilt. Im old school and trying to keep my 300 as close to original as possible.

that sounds awesome man. I cant find anywhere close enough that can do that for me, all of my shops are like 80 miles away, and until I can get this car running, I have to ride my bicycle. so you see why I would have to improvise until I can get what I need exactly.

I know where ennis is, they have a lot of swap meets in the area. Motorplex sometimes has swap meets to. I dont live far from there.

I've never been to the motor Plex. but I do personally know one of the guys in one of the race teams though. ever heard of that red Camero they're calling crackhead?

definitely should revisit sometime!!! I'm going to get my 55 Cadillac a new custom chassis that can handle the torque of the dodge hellephant crate engine I'll drop in that sucker, I got it from my granddad, he never got to use it so he gave it to me.
