Ok, the polara came home last night, ended up putting about 200 miles on. One issue popped up but I resolved that. Now I realized that the heat stays on even when off is selected.

The ac was working, but now that the heat was run it seems like maybe both are running when set to ac. Is there a valve that could be sticking? A wire that should be different than I wired it?

Look for the "water valve" and ensure it is "off" when "Max AC", or any a/c is on.

Model year of your car?

Thanks.

Water valve run by the cable. Near the blower motor, sticks through on the engine side of the firewall, as the cable is on the inside of the car.

It may explain some of the backwards plumbing we saw on the heater valve. Was it done that way to slow the hot water down? Your Dad did mention needing the spring wire pliers at some point to fix something. Is the heater valve cable the something?
Glad you got it back to Fargo

I actually think I misdiagnosed things the first time around. Some more driving and getting to know things.... I think that was just residual heat coming from the heater core making it warm.
If I don't turn the heat on, it doesn't get to be warm air. But the fan never does stop completely. so even in the low/off there is a breeze coming from the vents.

I'll start looking for that this weekend maybe... anyone have recommended place to start?

So I discovered the issue. It's been fixed and was stupidly simple and easy,
The vacuum line that goes into the car was not connected.... no vacuum=no closing the fresh/recirc air door or the heat/ac... plugged that in and I get Heat, nice frigid AC, or no air at all.

Now to figure the issue with the blower switch.
