I have a 1962 Dodge Custom 880, 4 door sedan, 361 c.i. (5.9L), with AC. The heater control valve leaks and I need to buy a new one or a good, used one. I have checked on the internet with little luck. They want an arm and leg for the new ones I found. Hopefully some of you have found a reasonable source. :sSig_thanks: Bob

Tallhair, I called myself doing just that. Maybe it didn't go through. I will check the Welcome Wagon again. Otherwise, feel free to ask whatever you want to about myself! Thanks. Bob

We need pics and your story. First one or life long Mopar nut like most of us and anything else you care to share :)

I will get a picture of me in my '62 Dodge Custom 880 as soon as I get a heater control valve and get it back together. My first pick up truck was a 1967 Dodge 100, slant (225) 6, 4 speed. I also owned a 1963 Plymouth Valiant Barracuda with a 273 V-8 and several 60's Plymouth Valiants, a 1964 (I believe) Dodge Dart convertible, not to mention a 1964 Dodge full size (can't remember the model). I ran across this '62 at a sheriff's auction. It belonged to a drug dealer and they confiscated it and sold it. When I was a teen-ager I drove my uncle's 1951 Dodge with Fluid Drive. That was a trip! My first car was a 1947 Ford convertible. Later on I owned a 1958 Corvette with both tops, red/red with white cove - WISH I STILL HAD IT!!! I still have the 1964 Studebaker Avanti I bought in 1965 after I sold my Corvette for $950.00. I AM AN OLD CAR NUT!!!! I think I might be on the right site!?!

Welcome. I think there's another active member who used to own a Corvette and Avanti IIRC. :)

RE: "Reasonably priced" heater control valves for early A/C cars is an oxymoron.
Usable used ones are non existent. They all corroded out.
All the OEM aftermarket ones are gone (Ever-Hot for example). NOS and NORS valves are around $250.00 and going up as that supply is drying up. There are no repops.

I'm clueless as to what a "repop" is but I am going to send my hcv to a guy who will refurbish it for less than $100.00, including shipping. If anyone wants to know who he is just e-mail me at home_remedies7@yahoo.com or call (785) 760-5749. Thanks to everyone who tried to help! Bob

Bet he's already looking up your own intro from half a decade ago for a heartly Welcome. ;)
