Hi everyone!
(I just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum! Sorry...)
I just picked up a garaged 1967 New Yorker with 26K miles on her. She's beautiful and 100% original (except for heater hoses and radiator hoses, as far as I can tell).
I tried to free up the temp control lever, which was sticking, and I promptly snapped the end off the control cable at the lever. This caused me to dis-assemble the dash under the radio and trace the cable to the water temp. valve on the passenger side up under the dash near the blower motor.
I can see that the lever controls this valve via the cable. I traced it up through heater duct piping (which I really do not want to remove!) I unclipped the cable, worked it loose a bit, cut it back about 3", bent a new "S" into it and re-installed it. Now, I can move the temp lever if I'm down there also putting pressure on the valve lever... not the best, but at least I can control the heat and shut it off if I need to.
Question is... is the cable split up under the dash into two pieces, or otherwise clipped or mounted up in there behind the heater ducts? I could not get the cable out, and I didn't want to go farther because the duct tubes are fragile... Anyone have a picture or diagram of how the temp control cable is routed?
Thanks!!
