Took this just now seeing as how it's on the lift anyway.
This is the replacement line I received.
I installed it recently the way the old one came off.

I don't know what to tell you Stan...page 5-5 of the 1968 FSM in the bottom right photo (Fig. 1 Brake Assemblies-Front) absolutely shows the hard line coming in along the frame and then looping up to drop into the top of the bracket. The hose clearly is routed into the bottom of the bracket. In the "1968 Passenger Car Parts Catalog" on page 5-10 shows the drum brake lines in total. Again hose in from bottom and hard line looping in to the top. Just guessing , but you might have disc brake lines...your hose looks over-stressed to me.

Yes, I'm not thrilled with it myself now because of this thread. F%#@!
Tomorrow I'm going to check my 67 manual.
Then I'm researching what linesare out there and what was I given.
What bothers me is the prebent hard line is formed so that it has to be in the position shown in my pic.
When I replaced them, that was the position I found them.

Now I'm pissed....

theres a metal shield piece that goes in there , looks sort of like a real thin rotor but I don't think it spins, it is attached, but it keeps debris out. commando my car had drum fronts and the bends were to the bottom just like whats on your car. lays right up right next to the frame all nice. that's factory.

I have the drum shield things im pretty sure too, if u need them so your car can be correct. they wont ever go back on my car. lemmie know. how far are you away from Sarasota? id take some Frisbees from sun king in trade.

I'm. about an hr. 45
Lemme figure out the lines first and we'll go from there. Appreciate it !!! Thanks.
What are Frisbees frim sun king?

Gravel guard is the spiral wire wrapping on the brake line. It is used on all cars were the line is exposed to road debris, front wheel wells, under the floor and from the leaf springs out toward the drums.

Just an FYI for those that might not know. That spiral wire can be had at any decent Auto Partz store and if you slide ah 12" to 15" piece of it on a 20' long 3/16" brake line you can bend the whole 20' line with your handz without any crimping anywhere on the line. Just bend a section of line to suit and slide the spiral wire down to the next section and get after it. OH YEAH Install the section of spiral wire before you double flair both endz DAH! And then either slide it off or leave it on after making the final bendz and before the last double flair. Side bar: It will not work with the larger tubing tho'! The wire iz smaller in diameter and more loosely wound, read crimp crimp here, Jer

Nah, just old 'n lazy and Trial and Error Pal, Trial and Error. 3 different bending toolz in the tool box and just got P*$$ed yearz ago and tried it and it worked. You can even use the round hole in the handle of ah crescent wrench(no sharp inner edges) for the tight onez and it'll work on the 3/16" stuff...ho ho ho, Lazy Jer
